T & A ... didn't eliminate fevers

My son had a T & A in August. He missed a few fever cycles, but has now

started up again, with one in Dec and another exactly 3 weeks later in early

January. All the same symptoms... high fever (104), dark circles under his

eyes, leg pain, and headache.... lasting for 3-4 days.

My son turned 6 in October. He has had since he was 4 1/2 yrs old

(diagnosed by Dr. Feder in CT and at NIH). He has had a fever every 3 weeks

for 32 months, with two breaks of a couple months. His episodes started with

a series of infections - two ear infections and strep throat - all three

weeks apart.

I wish I could do something more for him. I know you all know exactly how

I'm feeling right now!

Patty,

I'm so sorry to hear that the T & A didn't work for your child. I'm sure

you are very devastated. You are certainly seeing the right doctor,

though.

Just out of curiosity - since you're the first one I recall seeing that

the fevers returned after T & A, do you regret having the surgery done?

Thank you!

Ginger

Hi Ginger,

I don't regret the T & A surgery because it was the best decision we could

make at the time. And it was worth a try. These fevers are really

disrupting my son's life (and ours). I'm going to go back to NIH and see

if they have any other ideas or any further testing they can suggest.

Thanks for your kind words!

Patty

ps. are you in the Hartford area?
