Guest guest
Hi just joining the group. Our names are Marco and and we are writing from Italy (sorry for our english). We have a young daughter: Francesca and she is now 19 months old and about 10kg weight. She has al the symptoms of the : periodic fever clockwise, very high temperature, and all the other symptoms you described. Our doctor suggested to to give her a drogs which is called Bentelan (the active principle is the betametasone) to have proof this may be the . First time we give her was 0.5 mg and she reacted very well the first day but the fever get back. After one month we had another episode and the doctor gave her 1.0mg. Even in this case she reacted very well and she stayed well for tow days but now: the third day the fever is back. I'm convinced that the dosage is too low because I've seen on internet that the right dosage of prednisone should be 1.0mg per kg while we gave her a quantity which is around 1/10 of the quantity suggested... What we would like to do, on top of asking to this forum is to go to a specialist in Milan to ask more about the . For the time being if someone can tell me if I'm right about the consideration of under dosage, I will appreciate a lot. Finally last questions: could prednisone can taken during the episode or we need to give it only at the beginning? Does anybody know about this bentelan drug? Is it the same of the famous Prednisone you are mentioning here? THX for your help. Guest guest
Marco/ I noticed no one else had responded to your post. I have not ever heard of Bentelan or betametasone. The drug that we use (and I've seen most frequently referenced) is Orapred (prednisolone) - 15 mg per 5 mL. It's a yellowish liquid that we get in what I think is a generic form. I found this site that describes prednisone a bit, but I still don't see Bentelan on the site, so I would be careful to discuss with your doctor or pharmacist prior to utilizing the 1 mg/kg dosage that is frequently used of Prednisone/prednisolone. http://health./hormone-medications/prednisolone/healthwise--d00 084a1.html#d00084a1-missdose I'm sorry that I cannot be of more assistance.
