Guest guest
It depends on what you want to do. If you are wanting a T & A, which is sounds you do, then I would skip the Rheum and head straight for the ENT. Bring the study, and your fever journal and your child's FULL medical records, but I have found that ENTs do not need convincing. They are aware of this disorder and it is widely accepted in the ENT community that T & A is an effective means to relieve these children. IF the ENT is NOT aware of and the recent research, I would conclude the meeting and move on to another ENT. It would be to me a warning sign if the ENT was not up on his/her research. I would not want my child going under the knife of someone who was not on top of their game. I think what you will get from a Rheum is more blood tests and some prescriptions to try out. Personally, I was glad to have all of the tests done. It really made me feel comfortable that T & A was the last option since it did not seem that had anything else more serious going on. If you have already had a ton of tests done, you might not want to go through that again. I think pretty much an ID, Pediatrician, or Immunologist give the diagnosis. We came to the conclusion with our Pediatrician. Good luck, my vote is for ENT!
