Guest guest
Hi there I have been looking for a fellow Canadian on this site! We actually have a prescription for Prednisone but have not used it for our 2.5 year old son as of yet. We are currently using Singulair as a treatment option and it has seemed to help the severity of the symptoms. We had been experiencing fevers every 24 days for quite a while and then every 2-3 weeks and we have now been fever free for 28 days, which is something very new for us!!! We have seen several specialists in Ontario and they have all said that is something that should grow out of, so your information about this being a life long syndrome with decreasing severity is news to me for sure. I would be interested in any other information that you come across though! Regards, Mother to 2.5, fevering since 8 months.
Guest guest
OH MY, until your reference to it, I completely forgot about the naprosyn that we tried. The very first visit to our IFD we tried the naprosyn, but since this seems to be more of an anti-inflam drug, it didnt help my son . It also did nothing to the fever. So we did not use again. Secondly, another email mentioned that sore throats were 'common' in the . This is news to me. Other than the fever, and mouth sores, doesnt complain of sore throat (unless there is the sore in the throat.) And the joint pain, is only if the fever SPIKES incredibly high. We are schedule for a T & A on Apr 4th, and pray this will do the trick gOOD LUCK TO ALL! CINDY
Guest guest
Have you been given the diagnosis of ? There are all sorts of periodic fever syndromes out there. Some are very different than others. We took our son to an infectious disease doctor who diagnosed him with . He was VERY clear with is that this does go away with age around 10 to 12 years of age. All of the literature from around the world I have read supports his position. No where have I seen or heard about naprosyn being prescribed for this syndrome. The course of treatment is with cimetidine or Singulair to see if the symptoms cease. If not then T & A has shown promise. Otherwise, its a wait and see game. Can you do all of is a huge favor and ask the doctor who told you that they do not outgrow this to get you specifics? Your post has really alarmed me and I'm sure others out here. If this is just a misinformed doctor that would be helpful to know. If however this doctor has some research or other empirical evidence, then if like to know what it is. Many thanks
Guest guest
Hi from my expirience with my dauthter the symptoms change with age. she used to suffer from the throat but in the last episodes she does not. it is mostly the high fever, the joint pains, feeling very week and mouth sores. about - my older son was dignosed with when he was 5 and it lasted untill he was 8. he is 14 now and god help us he is okay. on the other hand my little daughter is fevering since she was few month, and she is 6 now and she has an episode every 20 days. we started taking singulair and it seemed to help after a while there was an interval of 40 days, but unfortunately we are back to the 20 days cycle. although some of the episodes are shorter. I am keeping notes in order to see the influence after a while. so in part I can reassure you that from my expirince it stops. but it is soooooooo difficult untill it stops. if you have fevers every three month you are kind of lucky, pray that it will only get better. Guest guest
I know this is a really late reply on this topic and I am sure has been answered or touched on. I just wanted to say with my daughter, her throat looks horrid.. looks like it would be very painful but generally there is no pain. The swelling is the character trait and as far as I have been told, pain usually doesn't come with it. Like I said, looking at my daughter's throat you would think it would be so painful. Not the case. .
