Hi Everyone,

I've never introduced myself and my 5 year old daughter, Olivia.

Olivia's fevered since about 12 mths of age but her syndrome was only

taken seriously after I charted it for four months. Her fevers

severity spiked by age two with fevers every two weeks for months and

seizures. She was put on Naprosyn (an arthritis drug) and took it

twice a day for 18mths which did lower the frequency of the fevers

and manage the fevers better (lower temps). We've never received a

diagnosis notwithstanding seeing every pediatric specialist and

multiple tests. The medical community then settled on her seeing a

pediatric rheumatoligist regularly and this summer after longstanding

daily stomach complaints we tried her off the Naprosyn (which has a

terrible history of stomach irritation) and she did no worse. Her

fevers are now about every three months and the local specialists now

say that these fever syndromes are not outgrown (as we were told 3

years ago) but just lessen in severity.

My Question...Olivia doesn't have a huge history of sore

throats...which is one of the hallmarks of ...but she has all

other classic symptoms...fevers, mouth sores, severe joint pain

during episodes, and stomach aches. Can it be without sore

throats????

Second...none of the doctors ever spoke of prednisone. Olivia and I

both have asthma (interestingly another auto-immune disorder) so I

know what prednisone is...but I've not heard of this use in Canada.

Any Canadians out there who have been given prednisone for their

kid????

I also found it really off that in all the posts I've read I haven't

heard of any other child on Naprosyn?????

Mady, Mom of Olivia...5 yrs
