Hello everyone, I'd like to start off by saying how THANKFUL I am to

actually find other parents who seem to be going through what we are.

It seems as though whenever I try to explain to someone, they

look at me like I have 3 heads or just plain can't beleive it!

Anyway, my name is , Im a young mom, almost 22 years old, and

my son Zachary was diagnosed with in November 2007 at 16 months

old, he is currently 26 months old, and has also been diagnosed with

Autism. His fevers began at about 9 months old, they used to be VERY

predictable until we started on Orapred last November. Since then

they went from every 5 weeks, to every 3 weeks, not too uncommon as

our doctor told us they might do that. Lately though things seem to

be going haywire. His fevers are becoming a bit more frequent and

less predictable, for example, he's had one at 3 weeks, then 2 that

were 2 weeks apart, another 3 weeks later, another 2 weeks later, and

this latest one today is only ONE week later than the others. I took

him into his pediatrician to be sure its not anything else

(infection, viral, etc) and she couldn't find anything. So im so

stumped as to whether I should give him the orapred in the morning.

We haven't seen the Infectious disease clinic since his diagnosis,

and I was instructed to call there for further instructions, so I

called there today, and the doctor who was " following " him, isn't

even there anymore!! So, another call want in to the general pedi,

who has yet to return my call (well its 9pm, so I guess shes not

calling me back tonight!) Its so frustrating. My sons doctor kind of

looks at him as an experiment almost, as he is her only patient with

. In every other aspect, shes a wonderful doctor, just wish she

was more educated on Pfapa and could help us more, but I suppose

thats what IDC is for. Well, thanks for listening everyone, and I

hope to get to know some of you and obtain and share some helpful

info.
