Guest guest
I just joined this group, so here is my introduction. Our one and only child, , has been diagnosed (probably) with . He has had these periodic fevers for about 2 years or so now. It's hard to say when they started because it took us a while to recognize the pattern. He just turned 7 years old. He is perfectly healthy otherwise. After reading some of the posts to this group, I'm beginning to wonder if he really has ... if he has it, it seems he has a less severe case of it... does occur in varying degrees of severity? His fever seems to max-out around 103.5. His " only " symptoms are the fever, sometimes some muscle/joint aches or stiffness in the legs and neck, sometimes a sore throat, sometimes a couple of mouth sores, and sometimes a bit of a runny nose. His appetite is lessened, but he still eats and drinks pretty good during an episode. Motrin and Tylenol (to a lesser extent) seem to control the fever pretty good. The episodes last 3 to 4 days. The time between episodes seems to be increasing now. It was about 4 weeks in the beginning... the latest " gap " was almost 3 months. We are hopeful that this is an indication that he is growing out of whatever it is that he has ( or something else). Because his symptoms have not been all that severe, we have had very little diagnostic work done... just a few blood tests, which have not shown anything. The only other thing that is perhaps noteworthy is that my sister had periodic fevers when she was about 5 years old. They removed her tonsils and that seemed to improve things. This was back in the early 1970s. 's tonsils, according to the doctor, look bad, but removing them has not been suggested by the doctor(s). Thanks for " listening. " Any and all comments on what I described above are most welcomed and appreciated! Chris
Guest guest
Thanks for the reply . We'll look into further testing. I got the impression there is no definitive test for , but I could easily be wrong. Again, thanks, and good luck to you too! Chris
