Guest guest
Please excuse the question marks, my computer does this sometimes (every time on this sight).? ? I went to the ID doctor my ped referred us to.? He was not very concerned to meet us, but quite comfortable in giving us the diagnosis over the phone, and leaving it at that.? Needless to say I was quite pleased to find this sight.? I don't write much but I read all the postings.? I did insist in making an appointment anyway.? My daughter is 5, she'll be 6 in March.? She had tubes at 16 months, and has had?some " viruses " .? She is the third child of four, two of which have a history of Asthma,?so I had not noticed a pattern until Kindergarten started.? She gets fevers, usually 103, and only complains of being tired.??Motrin and Tylenol work well.? I feel very lucky she does not suffer as many children do. She has had swollen glands and redness in her throat, but no complaints, at times she mentions her tummy hurts, I have always told it must be because she is hungry, or didn't have enough in her tummy before giving her the?fever reducer.? I now wonder if this too is a symptom, although?eating a little something does seem to help.? Her?cycle seems to be every three weeks.? The seem to?fall on?holidays; Halloween, Thanksgiving,?she had a cold so shifted the?cycle to 5 weeks, Christmas vacation.? I was pleased she didn't miss any school October. ? The?ID doctor told us he does not like to diagnose Pfapa officially until 6 months of recorded fevering.? He would like to just treat the fevers I think.? Since the?Motrin and?Tylenol work, and her fevers only last three days, I think?I will stick with?the fever reducers.? The Doctor told us to call at the end of January if the fevers continue.? She should have two episodes by then, one already passed).? I mentioned that taking out T/A as a treatment.? He was not in favor yet, and suggested maybe genetic testing only because I was looking for answers and treatments.? ? My questions are: What is the point of finding out if the fevers are TRAPS, Mediterranean, HID'S, or just Pfapa?? Aren't the treatments the same?? Could a person have one of the genetic fever syndromes with just fevers as a symptom? ? I'm not sure what I should do.? The doctor told me to call if the fevers continue, but I don't know what good it will do.? So the fevers continue, we get her tested, then what?? Treat the fevers?? Why bother calling and just treat the fevers and skip all the testing's.? Which is what he probably originally had in mind, that's why he did not find it necessary to meet with us in the first place. , Mother of Amy 5 Pfapa, Betsy 12, 9, Holly 2 ________________________________________________________________________ More new features than ever.
