To all moms : I took a stand for us today !

Our son was diagnosed last Oct. with Pfapa. He has fevered from

toddler age. He skipped 2 cycles. Then he spiked a fever. After

telling all of this to the I.D doc he told me that it COULD NOT be

Pfapa. He said that once the cycle is broken- the Pfapa is no longer

an issue. I told him that I joined this group and many moms say that

their children stop fevering and then it can come back. His reply

was -

" mom's and web groups- they just seem to cause problems. Moms are

really good to " find problems that no one else can find "

I looked him dead in his eyes and told him that he is NEVER to

dismiss me or moms like that again ! I followed by saying that WE are

the ones that are home with our children (unlike the doctors who only

see them about 2 hours a year). We are not seeking attention or

approval and yes we have better things to do with our time then

trying to live our lives through our children's illness. I ended by

telling him if he felt he was so correct then PROVE it. Find out

what it is that has caused my son to be sick and if it's not

then I will agree that he is right.

He has ordered MANY test and well it's been 10 days and I have not

heard from him.

I am just SICK to no end with doctors talking down to me as a mom

and woman. I am the one that knows my child and guess what - he

may not " fit " into a neat little package as described in a medical

journal. He may show different signs then the other ONE child you

see with Pfapa - this does not make me nutty or ignorant. We Moms

look out for one another- we are not afraid to share advice and to

take advice. We are smart enough (and secure enough) to reach out to

one another (via the web) and I think this angers the medical field.

O' well ! I have found more support and advise from this group than

ANY doctor has ever given.

Moms, I will continue to stand up for us- I will not allow them to

dismiss us anymore. The doctors might have spent 8 years studying

medical books that range from A-to-Z of topics ( & we are thankful for

that) but we spend 24/7/365 being a mom and we focus on one topic

FAMILY - that deserves credit as well !

Ok ladies, that's it. I just needed to vent and let you know that I

have got your back !
