Yes Amy I am VERY familiar with the Revere District....We had to take them to Due Process with the state several years ago to get appropriate services for my son. They may have improved somewhat but my advice to you is to make sure you know what "appropriate services" your child needs, (get the eval thru someone not affiliated with Revere) do not depend on them to make that decision for you. Have all your ducks in a row, go in there and tell them what you want and don't take no for an answer.. SO I say proceed with caution and carry a big stick.

Amy, I live next to this district. I have a couple of friends who pulled their

kids with autism out of Revere to home educate them. If your child with autism

can be mainstreamed and does not have any focus problems, you'll be fine -

otherwise - you can expect to spend 2-3 hours per nights helping your child with

homework just to keep up.

One thing to pay attention to is their levy - they can't seem to pass it - and

their previously excellent teacher/class ratio is going to be impacted. Their

sports in the spring will be on a pay as you play system.

When we moved into the area last year, we researched Revere and went and observed their program, and it seems quite good. We ultimately decided against it, though, because they are part of a co-op agreement with North Royalton and ?? and they only have programs for the kiddos in the elementary grades...they go out of district for middle and high school. That and the fact that the district is so spread out...when we were looking at the district, the school our daughter would be attening would have been about 15 minutes from where we were going to live...which I also didn't like... I thought the program was awesome for the younger grades, though...but our daughter is middle school age...

, we are in Copley. We had problems (at Fort Island) so we now

homeschool, but I've heard good things from another friend of mine in regards to

services for her son at Arrowhead. Sometimes I think an experience is better

across the school districts if you can get a good aid (which I could not get).

Hi, I'm 's friend at Arrowhead! :) I totally agree about getting a good

aide which we have, along with a fantastic teacher this year, but also the team

including the principal and intervention specialist and psychologist are all on

board with really putting our child's needs first. However, the best of team

intentions cannot be implemented without good direct support in the

classroom/lunch room/recess etc. So the school needs to be on board with

adequate support and training for the teacher and the aide (which has happened

for us).
