Guest guest
We were just with our suspected son to see the local " expert " . The visit was for me a disappointment, but maybe you could help me decide if I am being to harsh on the doctor. He started off saying (he had talked to my pediatrician but not to me at this point, nor had he examined Lukas) that he didn´t think it was because it is just too rare of a disease. (I live in Germany btw). He then at the end of the visit said he would suggest waiting to see what happened. I asked what about genetic testing to exclude the other periodic fever causes, and he answered that these test takes a long time. (Ok, so what? I didn´t get why that is a reason not to do it asap.) Then I asked about tonsillectomy (btw what does the A in T & A stand for?) and he said well yes that is an option, but I tend to be hesitant to do surgery. Then I suggested we´d come back next time Lukas had his fever and he said OK. Then that was it. Oh, and they took some blood too. Should I look for another doctor? If so, what would a good doctor have done? Since is so hard to diagnose, maybe there really isn´t more he could do... Thanks for you help, Karin and Lukas
