Guest guest
Hi Natasa I was concerned about giving Adrenal cortex for more or less this reason but was assured by Andy Cutler that Adrenal Cortex (unlike thyroid medication which can inhibit the thyroid) does not interfere with or inhibit the body's adrenal or cortisol production, it is supposed to help with healing/supporting the Adrenals, B5 and B6 may also be of some benefit. In our experience ACE can cause hyperactivity which will subside quite quickly if ceased, even though my son has shown typical signs of adrenal stress and some tests have also suggested this, ACE has'nt had much effect here but IMO is worth trialing especially as it's fairly cheap. Guest guest
I agree with Natasa - I do think that you need to be very careful. We actually use hydrocortisone, but, this is only after repeated tests over a year showing cortisol levels at the bottom of the range. My daughter now has a life which she didn't have before. I highly recommend the book 'The Safe Uses of Cortisol' by K McJefferies. There is alot of background information in there about the adrenal glands which is very useful. I expect that you would need to wean off natural glandulars in the same way that you would wean off hydrocortisone i.e. very, very slowly, to give the body time to adjust. As long as there is no reason other than adrenal fatigue then the body should be able to return to normal cortisol production after a while and after the stress factors, what ever they are, have been resolved. > > > > > > Imo too risky for kids > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Mandi <MUM231ASD@> > > > Reply- " Autism Treatment > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> " > > > <Autism Treatment > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > > > Date: Sat, 31 Mar 2012 06:51:04 -0400 (EDT) > > > " Autism Treatment > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> " > > > <Autism Treatment > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > > > Subject: Re: Adrenal ( natural glandular) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Adrenal Cortex is usually what our kids have and yes we use this and milk > > > thistle > > > > > > Mandi x > > > > > > In a message dated 31/03/2012 11:32:04 GMT Daylight Time, > > > pixiebell7@ writes: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We started the food supplements last week, my son was prescribed the > > adrenal > > > > capsules, has it got side effects? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Also milk thistle was added too, it says on the label for adults only, > I'm > > > > not sure about this, haven't given this though. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Anyone who's child on this food supplements? Guest guest
Hi Kenny, I wasn't suggesting that hydrocortisone should be used without proper testing - just that I think that in some cases it is necessary. I tried natural glandulars and they had no effect. Given that they are used alot, I am sure at they are useful. But, if the adrenal fatigue is severe, or there is another reason for the low cortisol levels, then it is likely that better support would be needed in the form of physiological doses of hydrocortisone. It would be interesting to know exactly what happened to the cortisol production in the children that Natasa knows after using natural glandulars - there must be something going on. > > > > > > > > > > Imo too risky for kids > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Mandi <MUM231ASD@> > > > > > Reply- " Autism Treatment > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> " > > > > > <Autism Treatment > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > > > > > Date: Sat, 31 Mar 2012 06:51:04 -0400 (EDT) > > > > > " Autism Treatment > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> " > > > > > <Autism Treatment > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> > > > > > > Subject: Re: Adrenal ( natural glandular) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Adrenal Cortex is usually what our kids have and yes we use this and milk > > > > > thistle > > > > > > > > > > Mandi x > > > > > > > > > > In a message dated 31/03/2012 11:32:04 GMT Daylight Time, > > > > > pixiebell7@ writes: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We started the food supplements last week, my son was prescribed the > > > > adrenal > > > > > > capsules, has it got side effects? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Also milk thistle was added too, it says on the label for adults only, > > > I'm > > > > > > not sure about this, haven't given this though. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Anyone who's child on this food supplements? Guest guest
I was severe per testing but didn't feel a bean on high doses for about 2 months! I nearly gave up but didn't know what else to do. Natasa didn't say these people were children, they could be but she didn't say that as I recall. I'd like to have Sam on it but slowly slowly with school, they have accepted zeolites, glandulars would be hard work Mx In a message dated 03/04/2012 21:25:08 GMT Daylight Time, m.kidson60@... writes: Hi Kenny,I wasn't suggesting that hydrocortisone should be used without proper testing - just that I think that in some cases it is necessary. It would be interesting to know exactly what happened to the cortisol production in the children that Natasa knows after using natural glandulars - there must be something going on.> > > > >> > > > > Imo too risky for kids> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Mandi <MUM231ASD@>> > > > > Reply-"Autism Treatment > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40>> > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> "> > > > > <Autism Treatment > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40>> > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> >> > > > > Date: Sat, 31 Mar 2012 06:51:04 -0400 (EDT)> > > > > "Autism Treatment > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40>> > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> "> > > > > <Autism Treatment > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40>> > > > <mailto:Autism Treatment%40> >> > > > > Subject: Re: Adrenal ( natural glandular)> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Adrenal Cortex is usually what our kids have and yes we use this and milk> > > > > thistle> > > > > > > > > > Mandi x> > > > > > > > > > In a message dated 31/03/2012 11:32:04 GMT Daylight Time,> > > > > pixiebell7@ writes:> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We started the food supplements last week, my son was prescribed the> > > > adrenal> > > > > > capsules, has it got side effects?> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Also milk thistle was added too, it says on the label for adults only,> > > I'm> > > > > > not sure about this, haven't given this though.> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Anyone who's child on this food supplements? Guest guest
Dr Lam has comprehensive info on pro and cons of using glandulars. Imo not something to give to kids unless very good reason … 2. Adrenal Glandulars Adrenal glandular are widely promoted and used for Adrenal Fatigue. Many report a sense of increased energy when previously fatigued and a sense of calmness when previously anxious after taking glandular. These adaptogenic properties, however, are usually demonstrable in those with mild Adrenal Fatigue and not in those with advance adrenal weakness. Those with advance Adrenal Fatigue are often stimulatory. While this may be considered as a desirable outcome at first as energy returns, there are significant side effects if taken long term. Taking adrenal glandulars chronically to sustain energy is one of the common reasons for adrenal recovery failures due to addictive and withdrawal side effects of these compounds. First and commonly, the body may develop tolerance, and over time, more glandular are needed to produce the same effect. Second, at high dose, these glandular may actually trigger and precipitate adrenal crisis as the body's ability to handle the stimulant reaches maximum tolerance level. Sufferers may experience a "wired and tired" feeling resulting in insomnia and hyper-irritability along with extreme fatigue. Third, withdrawal and rebound symptoms may surface when the glandular are stopped, evidenced by even greater fatigue. Fourth, glandular may trigger a series of paradoxical and undesirable effect, ranging from extreme fatigue, palpitation, blood pressure sensitivity, anxiety, among others. Because of these possible side effects, the general consumer should use adrenal glandular on a short term basis provided that the Adrenal Fatigue is in a very mild or beginning state. …. …Adrenal glandular should be part of the total adrenal recovery toolbox. It can be effectively used short term to enhance energy production in very mild Adrenal Fatigue cases due to its adaptogenic properties. The more advanced the Adrenal Fatigue, the more such glandular tends to lose its adaptogenic properties and become stimulatory in nature from a clinical perspective. Inappropriate use of glandulars is one of the most common adrenal recovery mistakes. This is often masked by a brief period of enhanced energy only to be followed by worsening fatigue or requirement of high doses to keep up the same energy output. Proper guidance is necessary under professional care to avoid long term side-effects, addiction, and withdrawal problems commonly associated with glandular intake.http://www.drlam.com/articles/adrenal_fatigue_glandular_and_herbal_therapy.aspFrom: "m.kidson60@..." <m.kidson60@...>Reply- "Autism Treatment " <Autism Treatment >Date: Tue, 03 Apr 2012 20:25:01 -0000 "Autism Treatment " <Autism Treatment >Subject: Re: Adrenal ( natural glandular) Hi Kenny, I wasn't suggesting that hydrocortisone should be used without proper testing - just that I think that in some cases it is necessary.
