Guest guest
Thanks, Janet, was checked by quite a few specialists last year including an endocrinologist (he was having some very odd neurological symptoms) and his thyroid was checked by both the paed neuro and the endocrinologist. I suspect that his thyroid is ok as he doesn't really have any of the classic thyroid symptoms as far as I can tell. The dentist speculated that the problem was caused in his first years of life when he had chronic reflux and he vomited VERY easily. I don't understand how that could affect teeth before they had erupted above the gumline but apparently there is a correlation between reflux in the first year and this hypo mineralisation of the teeth. (antibiotic use, high fevers, and asthma are also apparently correlated with this type of hypo mineralisation.) I see that Vit K2 and Vit D can help so we are going to try that to see if it improves the state of those molars as they will be very vulnerable to cavities and decay unless we can regenerate the enamel. I think it's time to order that Vit D test that I've been meaning to order. I just dread trying to get 3 drops of blood from my son, agh. oh well at least he cooperated at the dentist! Guest guest
I would go for anythiing that's not amalgam, usually holistic dentists do some sort of testing - in the surgery to see what suits best, there are a myriad of types of white filling Mx ok, thanks, so presumably a fast set composite would be safe? She will be filling his adult molars. Not amalgam, she'll probably have fast set composite for the kids Mx Also, what type of filling should I be trying to get for him? What is preferable? Guest guest
If possible , don't have any fillings and try to remineralise? In your position I would also think about fluoride coating but would that prevent use of the remineralising mousse (that Tracey mentioned here a while back used by a dentist near Stansted)?
