Guest guest
THANK YOU..... I discovered that this state (Kansas) really has no plan for " high functioning " people with autism. The noplan is a disgrace.... group home, work for a friend, live at home and work in sheltered workshop, etc. Therefore, for us the choice to homeschool becomes even more appropriate. It became much more real as I read IDEA and discovered that all those protections disappear after high school and child is basically floundering on his/her own with schools helping IF they are so inclined. > > I stumbled across a brand new blog that looks like it has great potential. It deals solely with transition from high school to college for parents with kids in grades 9-12. There is also a valuable free giveaway (a 55-page E-Book, Interactive Academic Websites) if you sign up for the listserv. I've dealt with Joan Azarva, the blog's author, and can't say enough good things about her. She is the REAL deal. You can find the blog at http://www.conquercollegewithld.com. Read about Joan in the " About Us " section of the blog, and it will give you a sense of her passion. >
