Guest guest
I've responded to a few threads and so figured it was time to introduce ourselves. My son is 6 yrs old and has been sick for what felt like every month since he was 3 mos old. Our family made jokes like, " oh, Ben is in Ohio so of course he's sick! " Not funny. We never put together the canker sores w/ the fevers. The sore throats, upset tummy, and " growing pains " (as we called them). We never caught on that it really was a cycle... until last summer when Ben was admitted to the hospital for a fever of 106 that lasted more than a week and did not respond to our normal barrage of tylenol/motrin. That week was the scariest of my life, to say the least. We are a military family and our pediatrician changed every 2 years w/ a move. We didn't have a documented history to present to a doctor. They had to take our word for it. Beginning last fall, testing began to determine what was going on w/ our boy, who had by this time missed a dozen days of school due to the fevers. We recently found a specialist at the University of Virginia that was finally able to define for us what was happening. And here we are. This site has been the most informative that we've found and I'm thankful for it! I wanted to reach out and forge some friendships b/c well, nobody understands like another parent! We also have a 3 yr old daughter, Naomi, who is just fine Thank God! Thank you for your time, Tawnya ~ Charlottesville, VA
