Guest guest
Took both boys to the GP today for broadly similar issues, abnormal looking bone growths and OCD. We had a 50 minute wait despite having an appointment, had to wait in the car with his dad. Anyway, we started with , GP not really thinking much of 's chin, feet and head lumps, said the feet could be a muscle issue [?] or as he is 14 just natural growth, we asked for a referrel and were denied, she said she would speak to her colleagues in the practice after we had gone for their opinion as it may not be bones but possible endocrine problem, she didn't like me questioning her as to how her colleagues would know better than her being as they will not be actually examining or even looking at , and how do we diagnose endocrine problems in the absence of a blood test, she asked me why we were being like this with her? Moving on to the OCD, again refused to refer to Maudlsey as her colleagues would know better due to their 30 years experience as GP's, so wallks out with nothing other than waiting to hear what her colleagues think in his absence, she reminded me that this was the NHS and there is budgeting constraints so I asked her who the other patients at the Maudsley were, she didn't answer. was up next with a much less obvious bone problem but she is arranging an X-RAY to look at his fingers, a physio to look at his foot and is referring him back to CAMHS for his OCD which she readily accepts is OCD. So my severely autistic son need the say so from the practice manager to further investigate the same problems his much higher functioning brother has but gets attention immediately, no permission required. Am I totally wrong when I get the feeling that is not considered worth spending any money on? I would really appreciate thoughts on this because if this is discrimination then I will defintley take it further. Vicky
