Prednisone - keeping it down

So after our longest fever free stretch ever(59 fever free days in a

row!) my son started with a fever last night. It definitely resembled

his normal episodes. After being unable to control the fever with

Tylenol/Motrin early this AM I gave him the Orapred. Sure enough, he

threw it up within just 1-2 minutes. Thinking he probably didn't

absorb anything I continued with the Tylenol/Motrin until we spoke

with his ID and saw the ped and could get a new prescription. During

this time his fever seemed to subside quite a bit. Granted I didn't

let any time lapse between tyl/mot admins, but normally it barely goes

down at all. Our ped said he couldn't have absorbed the full dose so

we should give it again this ONE time. I know a bunch of people on the

board use Orapred - how do you keep it down? If they don't keep it

down do you repeat the dose? What happens if he absorbed some from the

first dose and then the whole second dose? Will it bring the fever

closer? Any insight is welcomed.

So nervous about having the fever return! He hasn't had the Orapred

long enough to know if it's working so I'm a wreck not knowing. Sure

beats his normal episodes but the added unpredictability makes it an

even more complicated decision. I'm due in less than two weeks and I

truly want him to be healthy when he greets his new sister! Hopefully

we won't be inundated with another episode that soon again.

Gosh I just wish these fevers would leave all of us alone!
