Guest guest
- it is normal for kids to run a fever of up to 101 after the T & A. Anything higher should warrant a call to the doctor. Given that the child just had surgery I would think the doctor would err on the side of caution and treat it as an infection. Good luck with the surgery. Calder just had his T & A last Wednesday and is doing great. Because the doctor recommended keeping up with the tylenol, he has not really run a fever over 99. I have not heard of any posts to this group that discussed a fever cycle after the T & A. Alyssa

Guest guest
Our ENT discussed the same issue. Our son was due for a fever 4 days after surgery, he actually never fevered at all after the surgery - and the ENT said it was normal for children to run a low fever after a T & A. We were both surprised. The ENT said because of Tyler's condtion () he didn't know what would happen - I think he believed the fever may end up higher than other children's, and then he didn't have a fever at all. That was in August - he has now missed 10 fevers since his surgery (he used to fever every 2 weeks). Best Wishes to Lucas and a hopefully quick recovery. Pruden Tyler Pruden 2yr11mo fevered since 3mo - T & A aug5th 2008 no fevers so far Dylan Pruden 8mo Vancouver WA

Guest guest
I would think that for precautionary reasons that he should be put on a course of antibiotics just for prophylaxis after the surgery. Tonya

Guest guest
Our son was given anti-biotics after his T & A. Also, they are given prednisone as a routine part of the surgery is what our ENT told us. Regards, Nick Handrinos
