Guest guest
Here is my story. I am a nurse in Alliston, Ontario and I have been doing some research and came about and i am almost positive that my son has this. ___Was born at 36 weeks and was healthy at birth, Various colds since birth, Diagnoses with reactive airway at approx 5 months and was given puffers Ventolin and Flovent –only takes when necessary . From approx 3 months to 13 months he had 10 bilateral ear infections with bilateral tubes put in at 18 months. He has had no ear infections since. At around `13 months he started off with a high fever around 39 and was very fussy and refusing to drink his bottle it was then found that he had mouth sores in his inner checks, inner lips and tongue-he refused to drink and was taken to the ER for rehydration and was diagnosed with sakie virus and given oral Codiene and Nystatin. He then started to develop along with the fever, mouth sores diarrhea. The fever subsided around day 5. The diarrhea lasted approx 6 days and in turn he got a really bad diaper rash and was prescribed cream for that. From then to approx 24 months he had various bouts of diarrhea and maybe a day or 2 of fever ranging fomr 38-39 that didn’t last and then approx 1 ½ months ago in Sept 2008 he got a high fever 39.5 which would not come down and then 2 days later he developed mouth sores in upper roof of mouth and throat and was taken to the dr who at first diagnosed him with a virus he refused to drink which lead to another trip to emerg where they diagnosed sakie virus again and again he was given Codiene syrup and Lidocaine. Then approx 24 hrs later we were back at emerg for dehydration and diarrhea. The fever then subsided around day 5-6 and the diarrhea around day 8. Then approx 2 weeks later he developed fever again around 38.5 with no other symptoms and lasted approx 3 days and then went away. Then in Nov 2008 he developed high temp 40 and it would not come down the lowest it would go is 39.4 and that was with alternating doses of Tylenol and Motrin and temp water baths. He was taken to family dr and was told it was a virus and throat swab taken (negative) urine taken (negative). He then started to develop approx 2 days later excessive diarrhea which lead to a trip to Sick Kids emerg where he was rehydrated with IV fluids and CBC, lytes and blood cultures were drawn which all came back normal with the exceptions of his neutorphils were slightly lowered. He also develop a single canker looking like sore in his inner lower lip. This lasted again for approx 6 days. Then approx 4 days later he developed runny nose, cough, which is continuing to linger on. I am a nurse so I was researching what I could find and presented to my family dr and the emerg physician at Sick kids who both did not know what this was. I then sought out a consult pediatrician referral in Barrie Ontario and he went to see her on Nov 18 2008 wher I presented his history and she believes that something is going on for sure and I mentioned and she is aware of this and thinks that he could have something like that-she sent him for stool samples and blood work and I am currently awaiting results and return appt on De 16 2008.
