Guest guest
Angie - yes, we did tubes (her second set), tonsils and adenoids in one surgery. She was only gone from us for an hour and that included putting her under and after she woke up. She then stayed overnight one night. I posted another recovery techniques email that I'd recommend reading. Honestly - we really didn't think anything else was working very well, so thought we should go ahead. She'd had 17 episodes in 14 months with rotten tonsils most times that we went to the doctor. We just got to a point that we hated to medicate. The ENT told us that the old rule of thumb to wait until they are three was from when they used to lose 6-7 ounces of blood. Now they lose less than an ounce. Now the worst fear is hydration. I was really hyped up about it at the time, but now I'm thinking that a single trip to the ER for an IV is not really the worst thing. Well worth it for 100 days fever free. The only other saving grace was Tylenol suppositories. Dani reacted to the codeine (loritab, I think it was - with hydrocodone). She itched a lot, sweat A LOT, and may have had some wild dreams. She started to refuse to take it. I wish we'd switched to Tylenol suppositories much sooner. For just ear tubes - there is practically no recovery time. Jay was completely back to normal and happier once he got a good nap - so back to normal in 3-4 hours! ~Ginger Systems Solutions Principal, CAR Financial Services Work: (770) 828-1397 TREO: (404) 915-5035
