Right. We have open season from Nov 15 thru Dec 31st. But my drug plan changed in the summer what they covered and I wasn't allowed to change to one who would cover my drug. That's what I was trying to say. I am definitely changing to another one. I need to get on that, running out of time!!! I've already picked my new one just need to call them. Thanks for the website. I will definitely check it out. Take Care, B. in TEXASFrom: Jo Lynne <jolynne4@...> Sent: Monday, December 22, 2008 5:43:15 PMSubject: URL for free drug card from the good ole USA

I changed after the first year - needed a pharmacy that had a drive-in window. Between Nov. 15th -Dec 31st 2008 you can change.

Someone is giving you false information. I changed on Dec, ?? 2008 to one that covers my most expensive meds w/o need of Prior or Quantity. The State of North Carolina sent me A FREE Drug Card for more help and it has discounts on Dental & Vision & More.

Here is the link and you can fill it out and Print you a Card - it does not matter if you make $500 Billion or one penny.

Hope this helps.

Re: Re: Prove

The Medicare Part D drug plans can add AND remove medications at any time they want to throughout the year. I found that out the hard way. And there is NOTHING we can do about it. You would think they would let you change plans but they don't. Just another thing that is not fair to the disabled and seniors. They obviously have way too many lobbyists in Washington!! !

Trust me, I logged hours on the phone with both Medicare and my RX Plan. I even called the State Board of Insurance. I was told I had to wait for open season. I was told a number of acceptable reasons to change, but because my plan WAS in my new area (just with modified benefits) I was told by ALL I couldn't change. It doesn't matter anymore, I've already called and changed for next year to a plan WITH Gap coverage. And I have enough meds to last to the end of the year. But I know you can call Medicare 3 times, one right after the other, talk to 3 different people and get 3 different answers. I was told that as people retire who work for Medicare, they are eliminating the positions. So when we call usually we talk to people who do not have the

experience and knowledge necessary to answer all questions completely correct. I'm just glad it's almost 2009!! Take Care, B. in TEXASFrom: Jo Lynne <jolynne4@...> Sent: Monday, December 22, 2008 8:43:50 PMSubject: Re: URL for free drug card from

Yes I was told that by every person I spoke with. It wouldn't have been so bad but I wear the Duragesic patch and even the generic is $168.00, plus my generic cholesterol medication is $55.00! And I'm on 11 medications. The patient assistance program wouldn't help me because "I had insurance". I even appealed with them and still got declined. So I went to my doctor mid October and we switched some of my meds to the Walmart $4.00 list and she gave me samples of Benicar (high blood pressure which costs about $55.00), enough to last till the end of the year, but I still ended up paying close to $600.00 for medications, and I'm on SSD. But I will never make that mistake again. Don't plan on moving out of state again and as long as the plans offer one

with gap coverage for at least generics, I'm ok. If that ever goes away (and I noticed that this next year in my area there are a lot fewer plans that have gap coverage), I'll have to go off the patch. I'm also going to tell my doctor I can't afford the Benicar, there are tons of generic high blood pressure medications and my new plan gave me the names of what they recommend. But I've really had nothing but problems with Medicare....it seems to have settled down, I just hope Capital Hill doesn't have any nasty surprises for us. First Bless Your Heart. We might be twins

we do not give up.

I cannot remember if you live alone.

BIG CAUTION - I was on the Duragesic Patch.

I took myself off because it did not allow me to

sleep more than a few hours a week.

The Caution - Have someone with you the

withdrawal is HORRIBLE. I was alone.

I thought I was dying. My arms and legs

moved when they wanted. I now know why

people go to The Betty Ford Clinic.

My life saving drug is now a generic and it cost

$3150.00. Since my income is below the poverty

level (when I was out with my Liver Transplant -

and I returned to work but half days. So that

is how my SSD was counted. When I stopped

working I already know that I was going to get

the Max Raise and when I went back I again

got the Max Raise. Met Life Disability said I

needed to work just one day full 8 hours and

the Max Raises would determine how much

they paid me. The Attorney's for the Airline

did not know this - so now they are letting

everyone know. So at least I helped my

disabled friends. So that is why I am below

the poverty level. I will only have to pay $6,00 for

3 months. There is never a gap for me. I used to

get the above drug from needymeds.com.

I appealed it 12 times the first year and 2 times

in the second year. I Love my Country but they

need to show compassion. I have read the 14 appeals

denial and this is a direct quote: "We understand that

your Doctor has tried you on every drug and this

you have to have it or you will DIE (yes in Caps)

but we are not going to let you have it. I sent

the appeals to the Drug Company and within 2

days I had my meds. Keep up the fight because

we paid taxes and held good jobs.

I know exactly how you feel. So giving

Don't worry, you didn't stress me or hurt my feelings. I just thought maybe you meant the email for someone else and they would miss it.I'm so sorry about your Medicare problems. They are so difficult to deal with. It seems they have little rules about everything.....and none of it in our favor. As for who did your transplant, why would they care? They should be glad if they didn't pay for it instead of giving you a hard time about it. It's just a typical government agency. And unfortunately, we have to deal with them. I just don't think anyone who is responsible for regulating Medicare really understands what it means to be sick or disabled or old. Sometimes I feel like they prey on us....try to pull things over on us.I have

a Medicare Supplement or Gap insurance (they pay what Medicare doesn't pay) and I just changed to a new company and I'm so worried. The last one was nothing but trouble and this new one is half the price and someone recommended it to me. I'm just afraid when I start going to the doctor for some of my conditions they're going to try to hit me up with the old "preexisting condition clause". Even though I asked if it applied and they told me no because I was moving from one insurance to another without a break. So new health insurance & new drug plans for 2009.......fingers crossed!! I just don't think anyone who is responsible for regulating Medicare really understands what it means to be sick or disabled or old. Sometimes I feel like they prey on us....try to pull things over on us.I have a Medicare Supplement or Gap insurance (they pay what Medicare doesn't pay) and I just changed to a new company and I'm so worried.

Jo LynneYes, Medicare can make us miserable. It's so nice to have these groups where we can meet others with similar problems and possibly offer solutions. And what a wonderful Christmas present.....I've made a new cyber friend!! Have a wonderful holiday! Re: URL for free drug card from the good ole USA

I do live alone (except for my border collie Cowboy) and my pain doc weaned me off the patch once without any problems. He will NOT allow his patients to just stop using them. I really don't think I can stop anyway, I have too much other pain from arthritis and fibro and sjogrens. So I'm probably stuck until we start exploring the idea of a pain pump along with the spinal stimulator I have. You're right, we both seem to be fighters. I don't give up easily if I know I'm entitled to it!!!

I tell my Doctors do not run anymore

test to find out what I have. If they

cannot fix it I do not want to know

about it. I have at least 10 auto-immune

diseases. I too am Cherokee and there

is another one in this group. Your

Cherokee ancestors are closer than mine.

Do you know what percentage - since they

treated them so horrible some get free

college free meds, etc.

My Great Great Great Grandmother

married a Cherokee Chief and the

children have her last name. They

did not have to go on "The Trail of

Tears" because of My Great-Great-

Great Grandmother. She stole a

horse and they did not hang her.

She was a fighter like us.

Happy Holidays to you also.

Hi you can get help with food, doctors, meds, and home loans thru the Indian network but you have to be able to prove the blood line. I am 1/8 Cherokee but I have never tried proving it. My GGMa was fullblood but she would never try to get anything that Indians at the time was allowed. She said never trust the goverment they give with one hand and take with the other. Her family owned 500 acres of prime farm land and had a shipping business when they were rounded up. Her family was the in the first round to be sent down the trail. They were some of the lucky ones because they got to take 4 of the wagons with alot of needed supplies. My cousin gets all of her meds, and medical care thru the Cherokee Nation o and also food. My sister-in-law got all of her medical care, food, and money. She was of the Osage

Tribe and 1/4 blood but she was also the last known person in her line. If you can prove to have at least 1/32 you can get help. I am going to look into it for me. I just have to get the info from my cousin. LYL may

Well, you couldn't have a better liver!! My great grandmother was the daughter of a Cherokee Chief. I don't think I qualify for anything, but I think it's cool and wish I could have known her. I do believe my ancesters were part of the Trail of Tears because my ggm was part of a tribe that was originally in OK. I have a nephew putting together our familys' geneology on DVD and is sending copies to everyone, so maybe I'll find out more. I have seen a picture with about 30 family members and she was very easy to spot!! She was beautiful!!! But she had those piercing eyes, a little scary!!

Well, I guess I am 1/8th also. It was my great grandmother on my father's side who was full Cherokee. Like I said, her ancesters walked the Trail of Tears......ended up in OK, at some point her entire "tribe" moved to Missouri....her father was the Chief. But my great grandfather met her in MO. I'm told it took a lot of talking to convince the Chief to let his daughter marry my great grandfather.....mainly because he was going to be taking her to Illinois and he wasn't a Native American Indian. She never accepted anything from the government either and I think her father pretty much disowned her when she married my ggrandfather. I could be wrong but I don't think the Native Americans trusted not only the government but anyone who wasn't Native American.

But it eventually happened. I don't know all the exact details, still waiting on the DVD from my nephew. My nephew said this was just the first DVD, he plans to keep searching and is hoping to get information about our families that were in England and Ireland. I can't wait, I've always wanted to know about our family history. I don't know what we have to do to get any Native American benefits, but I bet it is really difficult.
