, your being crazy and all has caused those lymphomas. /sarcasm  As an aside, three weeks of IV Zithro fixed my stomach.  Teri, have you seen a urologist?  Blood in the urine and pain in your (apparently) left kidney is not " normal. " All of you, quit paying.  Tell them why.  If we were all paying our medical bills, up to some catastrophic threshold, we would demand quality for our hard-earned money. , welcome to the future.  It is here. Val From: hyperaldosteronism [mailto:hyperaldosteronism ] On Behalf Of Bingham Speaking of crazy....My wife will tell me I am driving her crazy and I tell her she drove and parked that car long before she met me! Gotta tell everyone about my visit to the GI doc. Nice fella....uh uh.....but I am seeing him for the lumps that keep popping up in my groin and abd, some RLQ pain, and the anemia with + giuaic tests x 3. So I go see him and he has 2 meds students from Midwestern U (might have been PA students, but I couldn't read the tags as they didn't do anything). So he comes in and is nice, but directs the conversation from the start. Fast talker. He asks me why I am there and I barely tell him about the RLQ pain, the anemia, and the lumps...and I know he heard me because we talked about how I thought they were lipomas, but they seem to come and go, especially in the groin, before he sees dollar signs. He listens to my heart. Touches the left side of my belly for a second - doesn't push down on anything - never asks again about the lumps, never palpates the right side, doesn't do a rectal (I would have on this type of complaint, but hey I wasn't WANTING one), asks NOTHING about any blood, nothing nothing about bowel habits (not even on the paper I fill out), or ANYTHING ELSE. I am dead as day serious. And he never stops talking about " as you know we need to do the colonoscopy " and then he notices I put down GERD so he says " we'll do a upper GI while we're at it. " I get to say nothing really and in about 2 seconds I figured why should I? Why just make the mood bad for all of us, and I already didn't trust him. As soon as he thought he could, he targeted on the $1000 for 1/2 hour procedure and that was that. He has his own machines and has to pay for them, so he abruptly walked out and had the " scheduler " come in, and she did more fast talking. Well meet after that apparently. He never looked at, discussed, asked about, even blinked in the direction of the lumps - some of which are there. Let's pray it's not lymphoma uh? I told her that since they are using fentanyl and versed and I have never been out nor had surgery, but have a very dangerous and high BP (that's gonna be high if I don't take my meds before hand) should I come in for a " real " physical and discuss it. She didn't get the sarcasm, but I realized the 2 hour drive was just another wasted visit, and she mumbled oh they'll monitor you well. Insurance approved it and I am 44yo so maybe I will get it done while I still have some insurance, but I need to talk to him first. I am telling you it is epidemic - a disease with medical professionals. What are they learning in school? while I am not perfect as a provider, I pay attention and always have, I ask and ask questions, I listen (but can ALWAYS improve that), and I always always evaluate things by touch. I always have - even in my years as a paramedic, whether I was 20 or 30 years old. I had a nurse come in the clinic the other day as a patient and someone recognized her and she made some off-hand comment about the ER " isn't supposed to diagnose " and since it was an ER that has mistreated my wife, myself for 2 years, and many a friend and patient, I told her that was BS. Of course an ER " diagnoses " . That is such an absurd statement to me and I have spent 25 years in the ER in some fashion (her argument is they are just supposed to stabilize). They don't have to finish a job, that's a surgeons job sometimes, nor do they have to follow up on the problem, that's a specialist or family practice docs job. But such BS the mentality. I want my ER doc, or PA or or NP to be able to dx an appy, or an aortic aneurysm, or a heart attack. My God, WHAT IS GOING ON! Now, I believe this came up because there was a 29 yo lady who was there that day, who had just had a baby, but who a month earlier was sent to the ER by our clinic in an ambulance, with dizziness, headaches, and another odd finding I don't recal at the moment (something about her eyes maybe?). Her dx leaving the ER? Anxiety and probable migraine. Her actual diagnosis when she got flown to Phoenix a day later? CVA. She had a bleed that was slow enough and they caught it in Flagstaff the next day as I understand it. So she was voicing her opinion to the nurse. There's a lawsuit from it. Don't get hurt or sick in Prescott or Prescott Valley AZ Out of PA school I worked ER's in OK and Texas, always by myself, as a PA, with no doc in the building - sometimes hours away, but available by phone. I diagnosed all the freakin time, and I had no CT no MRI, just xray and ultrasound and I would have to fly them to Amarillo or Lubbock (sometimes at one ER Wichita Falls). But I always put my hands on the patient. Always. Honestly, I am sickened by it. It is not just an inconvenience anymore, but a lazy sickness by the profession that has to be fixed. If we don't overhaul healthcare in the human sense - not just financially - we're all doomed. From: Valarie val@...Buy your own spiro and try it, working up slowly. See what it does for your BP. Keep a daily BP log. DASH. If spiro and DASH don't help, then it is likely not PA; it is something else. I had several ER visits for extremely high BP, trembling, low potassium, rapid (and irregular) heart rate and near fainting. Spiro fixed my BP but the other symptoms were Lyme disease. " Terrible night sweats " and " shortness of breath " are common with Babesia, a Lyme co-infection, although you need to rule everything else out.How does being anxious make blood in your urine? My Lyme was diagnosed via Lyme antigens in urine. They tried to tell me that being crazy (anxious) destroyed the cartilage in my knee. /sarcasm From: hyperaldosteronism [mailto:hyperaldosteronism ] On Behalf Of terriI have visited with 2 more doctors(Endo and Urologist) who just don't seem to get that I am sick. Both are trying to convince me that everything I am going through is in my head. Can't help but get a little defensive when they start bringing up anti-anxiety meds. I don't know if I can emotionally take another doctor dismissing my problems; therefore, I am just done. I am going to try and heal myself with diet, exercise(I'll die trying), positive thinking, and keeping my mind occupied on other things than how terrible I feel. My last MRI done in Sept 2011, showed no adrenal masses. My aldosterone is elevated 10 points and my renin is at the high end of normal. I have had blood in my urine 4 times since Sept and my left side under ribcage at breast level is very painful(hurts to lean back, raise my left arm, take deep breaths, or eat). I also have terrible random spells of extremely high BP, trembling, low potassium, rapid heart rate and near fainting. I am weak most of the time and have terrible night sweats. I have had a bloody nose everyday for a year, bruise easily, have elevated hemoglobin and hemocrit levels, and shortness of breath upon exertion. No one cares..... So I give up.... I will treat myself.... I have not been diagnosed with anything other than anxiety, occasional high BP, and low K and D and elevated aldosterone. Advice is welcomedT
