My brother has been fighting HTN for 20 years and was this month diagnosed with PA. He is 74. I am 54. Coincidentally I have just started on high blood pressure meds in last 6-9 months. On 40mg Benicar. However, today back at doc because not feeling well and BP at 100/180, all time high. They have sent me home to do the 24 hour urine test. When my brother did this test he had to take sodium tablets in advance. They did not give me anything like this and when I asked at the lab she told me she knew nothing about that. I have done some reading that says these tests have to be done right or readings aren't reliable. Should I be having the sodium tablets to get a more accurate read?
