Guest guest
From Elise Pearlstine: What is your favorite citrus scent? And how many do you have? This can include the fruit, flowers, leaves and/or woody parts. _____ I like petitgrain and petitgrain sur fleur more than anything. I plan to get some lime petitgrain at some point. This essence has ethereal qualities while being highly evocative to me.

Forgot to add that I have eight citruses: sweet orange, blood orange, grapefruit, lime, tangerine, mandarin, bergamot, and bitter orange. None is my favorite. Guest guest
I have two pink grapefruits and they seem too bitter. Not at all like I thought they would be. And I love grapefruit scent. There is a soap made by Nu Skin, I sold that years ago at 10.40 a bar then, it had a natural hint of the freshest almost not there grapefruit scent and when you stepped out of the shower, you feel soooooo clean. That scent was just perfect. e

I'm also enjoying some Petitgrain Mandarin that I got a few months back. It smells like citrus flowers, and green, as usual, but there's a starchy note there that reminds me of ground corn masa as used in Mex food. Specifically, the first time I smelled it, I was transported back to a time late at night in summer, in Phoenix, Arizona, near the orange groves, where I stopped at a tamale cart for a snack. Maybe that would be a good perfume name- " Midnight Tamale Run " . -leavesofjoy / Micah www.al-kemi.com
Guest guest
okay, do you mind sharing your source for the pink grapefruit? I sure would like to find a good one. I ordered some fruit scents 'From Nature with Love' and was very pleased with the pineapple and the citrus blend......the watermelon.....not so much. I used 4 parts watermelon to 1 part cucumber and all that came thru was the cucumber........=( I just love their bottles too. evie

This > can include the fruit, flowers, leaves and/or woody parts. > _____ I haven't smelled petitgrain sur fleur yet -- I think I really need to... Currently, I have: Lemon - Argentine Lime (two different ones, both pressed) Tangerine Petitgrain (two different ones) Neroli bigarade Bitter orange (two different ones) Sweet orange (four different ones, the one from Brazil is lovely, as is the Valencia) White grapefruit (two different ones) Pink grapefruit My favorites? Oh, that's so hard. I love most of them. I want to say lime, but that's just because when I squeeze limes for culinary use, I go into olfactory orbit and fall in love with the scent of my hands. But then, thinking back to my oils... I love the tangerine - its soft sweetness is beautiful, and it makes me happy. The Valencia orange and the orange from Brazil are both so yummy that I just keep smelling and smelling them. The pink grapefruit is softer and quieter than the white, and I have a hard time deciding which I love best - the white is zingier. The petitgrain by itself doesn't really do much for me, but it's lovely in blends. Then there's the neroli. Oh... Heaven in a bottle. Gotta be in my top three. But what of the others? Too difficult for now. I guess I'm just going to have to settle for not being able to narrow down a favorite or three just now... : ) Andrine

Guest guest
Well, I asked the question and I love all the answers. I'd better post as well. I am having a hard time deciding my favorite. For the fruit it's probably bitter orange and yuzu. I love petitgrain and neroli too. On hand I have (many of these are tiny samples): bergamot bitter orange sweet orange wild orange blood orange neroli lime lemon yuzu petitgrain neroli green mandarin petitgrain sur fleurs orange blossom water absolute Elise

I'd really like to like orange blossom, because I adore the scent of the actual flowers, but maybe there is something wrong with the batch I got, because there is something funky about it I just cant get over. One minute its beautiful, the essence of the blossom, the next minute it smells like a zoo! I guess I feel ambivilent about it. I used to not like petigraine bigarade, thought it harsh and woody in an unpleasant way, but maybe my tastes have changed or it has mellowed with age, but I kind of like it now. Andrine, I too absolutely love the smell of fresh-squeezed limes! It gets on my hands too and I cant keep from smelling my fingers! Of course I love it when anyone is eating citrus fruit and scenting the air with it. It wouldn't be me though, although I love the scent and flavor of citrus zest, the fruits are too darn sour for me! Except for tangerines and mandarins, they are nice and sweet. I own: Lemon Orange Bitter Orange Blood Orange Lime Bergamot Tangerine Clementine CO2 Petigraine Bigarade Pink Grapefruit Neroli Orange Blossom
