Guest guest
I am not off everything as I have to take the metoprolol right now about every other day because my heart rate is messed up, I have no idea why and I have been off it enough that it's not rebound. It might be the anemia - which my Hct was 34 on Tuesday at my doctors visit and my heart was erratic and fast 140 when she listened (I felt it fast but nothing else as far as pain or anything) that she sent me to the hospital for an ECG (their machine wasn't getting a good tracing on others so she just sent me over). But I kept telling the hospital it's gonna stabilize because it always does and yet they kept wasting time and so it did - so I do not know what ryhthm it was. By the time they got it it was normal at 80. But I take that only if my rate is fast. Hopefully we figure this out soon. All my other iron studies are fine so we don't know why there's anemia. No bleeding on colonoscopy either. So I don't know, but I am feeling the fatigue and shortness of breath a lot/ But I have stopped the spiro. I kind of had success with DASHIng the first time I think I learned about it (or took it seriously!) when I found this list and realized I HAD to get serious about it. I had moments in the beginning, when I first got on spiro (and I found this list probably days later after starting it and started watching my diet immediately) and kept getting low BP's so I had to cut the spiro in half and keep my sodium about 1400 a day. not much lower ot higher. I think I actually overdid it at first. BUT I am no fanatic, I am not a vegetarian, definitely not a dietary specialist and I enjoy many things I used to - just in very much moderation. There's no menu or anything, we, as a family mostly, cut out or way down the packaged and canned foods number one as that was the biggest source of sodium. Much more natural now and less reliance on the packaged stuff (for instance spaghetti sauces). Lots of veggies for me. Good thing is I like them, except squash and zucchini - don't ask why as I have never liked them. But the greens I llike them all so we eat ALOT of broccoli, green beans, I am the only that eats peas- the frozen kind. I just learned to eat more natural. I put a little cheese on my broccoli if I eat it alone and it's not ever too much. Oh breads was a huge one. Had to cut way down, and instead of Peanut Butter sandwiches for instance I have a jar of all natural PB and I buy the celery sticks. That is good mag and K. I get sick of them sometimes and change things up. I have cut down on red meat, but not out. Was never a huge meat eater anyway. Pastas had to get way lower. Honestly we just changed our habits and made substitutions. I never found it hard. But the key may have been the sodas in my case. Had about one a day, but when I stopped that seemed like the BP got better and better on medicine and now fine off the spiro. My boobies feel better too. It's not a big commitment really, just a change in lifestyle. Like exercise. Younger (I am 44 now) I was so athletic and disciplined but after getting sick less so, so I had to find a routine to make me do it. I exercise nearly every night (I have a 2 hour drive each way teaching a couple nights a week so time is limited some nights) but I watch my shows - mostly sports - and for an hour or two get up and lift weights and/or exercise on all the commercials and then rest and it's just a good habit for me now. That's it with DASH too. Just had to make it a habit and find a way to make it fit me. - Oh, and make my wife get it to, but she got such high blood pressure with the pregnancy that it scared her so eat MUCH better now. I joke that she's OCD and I am total ADD so I knew once she committed to it MY life would get better. I still enjoy some cake, a soda once in a while, and other things. and I tried the V8, gave it a manly try, but no go - while I like raw veggies, I apparently do not in liquid form. I think it's more the consistency. I do drink lots of OJ now. I hate just water and h2o gives me horrible reflux. Always has, but I sip it all day instead of soda anyway. I like kool aid singles in my water when I can find them. High sugar I know, but taste better. Guest guest
If you have not you should give her your complete story in hard copy. Then she can use that to review for the next visit, unless you can send it to her before your next visit. Then she will know you better and faster than if she had to question you about your history. She can then focus in on specific questions, issues she feels are important for her to work with you to get you back to full tilt. Guest guest
The only doctor who ever read my written history was my Lyme doctor. Guest guest
They were already open-minded. Finding one who is is nearly imnpossible these days. They're too busy trying to type now thanks to EMR, and want to rush em through. I have a complete history and always give it first visit. Guest guest
To bad we can't give them the Hx on a thumb drive to up load. Save them it's of time. Most systems will not allow this as a security measure. Guest guest
He wasn't young. He is nearly a midget, balding; and I guess bullying a small woman made him feel bigger. He also got horribly agitated when I mentioned that I had consulted with Dr. Grim. Guest guest
Sounds like " Little Man Syndrome " also known as " Napolean Complex " . Here, check it out: 1.little man syndrome A man, small in stature, who attempts to overcome the way he believes other people perceive him (as a diminuative character) by 1) attaching himself to authority figures, 2) trying to manipulate himself into positions of control, 3) migrating toward positions of leadership, and 4) having a fairly volatile temper. I had a boss with little man syndrome and besides never being able to please him, he always had to prove he was better than anyone else! 2.Condition whereby undersized men compensate for their smallness by physically asserting their presence. Of course he would feel threatened by someone as good s Dr. Grim, IMHO. > The only doctor who ever read my written history was my Lyme doctor.
