One thing I found funny when I lived in a small community, having grown up in the big city, is how some would complain about WalMart being 1/2 hour away and then when I thought about it, and added some perspective to it, I realized that if you live in the big city a mere 5 miles away could be a 1/2 hour drive due to traffic, lights, etc. In the small town in it was 1/2 hour from us at the closest, but completely straight, no lights, no traffic, just a watch for the cows drive.

The other big one in a small town was "The kids here drink and party because they had nothing to do!" and parents excused that every day. I used to ask them, "what did you think we did in the big city after school? Did someone hand us an itineary and say here's your schedule?" Not.

In most small towns the kids, whether they suck or not, make the basketball team or any sports team, travel with the team in any sport. They're ALL in the band, and they are all able to participate in everything. In the big city - good luck making the basketball team, especially when they bussed in the inner city downtown kids like my school who were most of our team (I did make the team and they called me "Bird" after Larry Bird because I was a great outside shot and mostly because I was the only white guy though MAGIC was my guy for me ), The band was a TRYOUT and not a given, and so most big city kids DO NOT have anything structured - so the opposite is really true.

Just got me thinking.........

Thank you - I hope that live your life is the post-op prescription I get. I live in such a rural area that there are few specialists even in the nearest city - I just want to make sure nothing else is missed. - I posted above the short version of my medical history - I diagnosed myself about 10 years ago but have just now gotten the DRS to agree - with the exception of my cardiologist who recognized all the symptoms but could never get the labs to confirm.
