The endo I visited here is not a good clinician and pretty much relies on blood/urine tests and charts to diagnose. Hence I do have symptoms of hyperaldosteronism but no diagnostic or treatment. I will really appreciate any recommendations. Laur
Guest guest
Hi Francis, My results should be here already but just in case (from last year): Renin=0.4 ng/mL/h (normal Na diet) Aldos=17.3 ng/dL Aldo/Renin ratio = 43 The salt suppression test showed Aldosterone serum suppresed to 9.5ng/dL with the cutoff being 10ng/dL and hence my endo concluded " your results ... actually look pretty normal " hence done nothing (ignoring all my clinical symptoms). BTW, urine K 24h excretion was 3x under salt loading (at 84mmol/24h) then under normal salt diet. I have to find a good local clinician endocrinologist who is not only specialist on diabetes but also on other adrenal and endocrine stuff. Currently I am DASHing and no medication (except K/Ca/Mg supplements). Please post if you know any really good endo in southern CA area. Laur > > Can you give us results lab tests? Guest guest
When you say " southern California " does that mean you're willing to travel as far as the Los Angeles area? If so, I can give you contact info for the nephrologist/HTN specialist who diagnosed my PA. > > > > Can you give us results lab tests? >
Guest guest
You have early PA as you will note in my Evolution article. So if you were 9.99 he would call you normal but if 10 you would have PA. Does not follow. Ask for a trial of spiron.Where in S California do you live. I am moving to S Lake Tahoe and can see you in Stateline but a long trip. I know folks in LA and SD.Also search the Amer Soc HTN list of hypertension specialist.Or you can hire me to work with you and your team to get you under control. Guest guest
Thank you Dr. Grimm for your offers. I would be willing to travel to your new clinic near Tahoe. Please let me know when you are planning to open it. If you know some folks in San Diego I would love to talk to them about HTN specialists in S California (I am in SD). Thank you. tiu > > You have early PA as you will note in my Evolution article. > So if you were 9.99 he would call you normal but if 10 you wouldhave > PA. Does not follow.
