Valerian root has the medical functions of Anticonvulsive, Anodyne,

Antispasmodic, Carminative, Epilepsy, and Tranquilizer. It's active

agent is Valerianic Acid and alkaloids.

The root (dried and boiled) as a tea aids in adominal cramps,

headaches, heart palpitations, insomnia, hypertension, anemia,

convulsions and serves as a sedative.

The root (raw and boiled) added to a bath aids the muscles in

exhaustion.
