Spring is approaching and one of the healthiest activities is working with plants. I love getting my hands in the soil, and I don't use gloves. By growing your own vegetables or flowers for the butterflies and bees, we help ourselves and Earth's creatures to be healthy. When I work in my gardens, I zone out. When I am finished for the day, I feel at peace and one with Mother Earth. If you haven't grown vegetables before, start small. You can use planters for all kinds of vegetables, like tomato plants, strawberries, even blueberries.

Create a Planting CalendarIf you're starting seeds indoors, it helps to create a planting calendar so you know which seeds to sow when. Start by marking your average last frost date — you can get this from a gardening neighbor or your ative Extension office. Then count back and mark the sowing and transplanting dates for each crop. For example, you'll want to sow tomato seeds about six weeks before planting outdoors. If your average last frost date is May 1, write " sow tomato seeds " on March 20. You'll transplant the seedlings into the garden on May 1. You can transplant broccoli and cabbage seedlings into the garden about two weeks before the last frost date — they can take a light frost — so write " transplant broccoli " on April 17. Sow them about six weeks before that, on March 6. Make your planting calendar now, and before you know it you'll be out in the garden!

I am glad you liked it Antoinette! Your name is so beautiful. Anyway, I have many sites on gardening tools, that can help a person still work in the garden with more ease. I have a difficulty with a hip, lower back, knees, feet and sacraliliac, yet, I still take care of my gardens, thanks to these tools. I, also, have many sites where I buy my seeds and plants. Some of these sites are difficult to find, as they carry more exotic plants, such as goji berry plants, elderberry plants, and more. If anyone would like for me to share, just let me know. yes, I am so sore from digging in one of my garden beds, the muscles I havent used for a while now hurt alot, I just sowed and finished 2 rows of onions, snow peas, spinach, mescaline mix, arugula, and radishes, and I got 6 more beds to go and much more. The strawberries need weeding also, and raspberry canes need to be relocated! Lots to do, and I have accomplished just a fraction of what I set out to do, and its raining, so no gardening today. Enjoy! MicheleAntoinette Hummel <antoinette.hummel@...> wrote: Yes.... Michele, we haven't even started. If we walked out into the garden area, we would sink over 12 inches. Even walking in the grass are, we sink 4 inches. Too much rain and snow here. Of course, we have our winter onions and turnip/mustard greens that were planted early winter. But we can't even get to them. Lol!

I know you have to be thrilled with what you have done so far. :-)

Love, Joy

Oh My I hate that! We had flooding about 2 weeks ago. Yep, I have some onions left over from the fall too. Yes, I have so much gardening to do so its good to have a head start, the mountains are still with snow here and it was in the low 30's last night, so I have a large tarp over the bed, also this keeps out those hungry robins and sparrows that love my seeds, they were watching carefully as I planted them.Joyce Hudson <bjoyful@...> wrote: Michele, we haven't even
