Just wondering if the pulses are correlating - ie..going up when your up or down when your down. The BP fluctuations are nothing abnormal as many people have a fairly good jump in BP upon rising. Make sure your taking it a little while after getting up and your body will likely settle in and have been up for a bit. It doesn't look like anything too crazy though.

What does it mean when your aldosterone levels are low (4) when laying down (as well as blood pressure...132/82) but when upright, is high and bp is high as soon as you stand up too (157/99)??? Renin, stays supressed in either position.> > BTW...had MRI/MRA this am without contrast. They listened to my concerns regarding contrast, then scanned w/o, radiologist looked at them and said he had all he needed, so didn't have to use contrast. The tech said that my ability to breathe, hold my breath well, etc. was a factor. Said my scan came out beautifully!> > Anyone know of a Young at Mayo? Doc 3 sent my labs/records to him. Finally got a call back from his nurse who told me this is the reason she didn't call me sooner; she couldn't find my chart because the doc took it home. I asked them to fax me the results and they said they could not; only mail them. So they are mailing them. I have no idea when I'll get the scan

results, or what I'll have to do to get them. I do have 2 extra DVD's of it though no radiology report.>

you have PA. CE Grim MDOn Jan 20, 2012, at 5:59 PM, Bingham wrote: Just wondering if the pulses are correlating - ie..going up when your up or down when your down. You have PA. Have you not read my evolution of PA article?I would recommend starting to DASH now and document that you are DASHing by urine testing and then if BP/K not at goal add spiro or eplere. If all becomes normal and you feel good then that is confirmatory IMHO.CE Grim MDOn Jan 20, 2012, at 4:17 PM, maggiekat7 wrote: Hmmm. All my labs are flawed so far except K levels and thyroid levels. In early Jan, I had been off bp meds for 5 weeks, and loaded with salt 4mg/day for 4 days, then tested for plasma aldo and plasma renin. My aldo was 15.2 and renin 0.17. She did not do a baseline normal in any position without sodium, nor did she run a simultanieous sodium excretion, so the results, essentially are flawed and useless. Then, Doc 3 ran 24 urine, and more plasma aldo, catachol, and metaneph levels, and k but I was on Losartin and K and Losartin reduces aldo and renin, I guess. Plus, I have read that I might not have been long enough off salt. Only 3 or 4 days. Might have still had effects of salt supression of those levels. So, they laid me down, because I was faint and dizzy, and took the blood after about 20 min. Those labs came back with continued supressed renin, but aldo, only 4, k 3.9 (on 4 ktabs). So....I assume they are flawed, but am not sure. Losartin and laying down and salt? Maybe something is messing with the levels, maybe not. I really don't know at this point. So, my doc, who doesn't call me with my results or that he is sending my chart to someone at Mayo for consult, sends my chart to this guy at Mayo, and I get scanned today and I guess they'll all get back to me sometime. I am taking Norvasc now and bp is normal when I wake up in am, but after standing and moving around, goes up to 160's over 100's. All day. So, I doubled the Norvasc and its the same. No effect. I have seen 2 endos, 1 nephrologist, 1 gyno, and 1 cardiologist and now have a Mayo doc looking at it all and have absolutely no idea why my bp abrubtly went from low to high in Sept, '11. Simultaneously, my k went from normal to low in Sept, '11. I began supplementing k then, in Oct, went to 2 k tabs, in Dec to 4...with 4 k is normal range. BP stays high when upright regardless of Lisinopril, Losartin and Norvasc. Labs in Oct, Nov, Dec document low k, flawed labs in Jan, I don't even have them all yet. None of these docs call me or fax me results. I have a scan now, but God only knows when I'll know what it shows or who will look at it without my knowledge. I am at a loss. I have decided to let all of them do whatever they are doing. If I hear nothing by Mon. afternoon, I will make appt. with neph who ordered scan to review and obtain copies of radiology report and all labs. If I cannot get an appt or results next week, I will have MD request all records from all of them and go there for further care and direction. In the meantime, I give up. I wait. > > maggiekat7, > > I've been to Young at Mayo. He is one of the foremost experts in > the world for PA.
