Guest guest
CHIROPRHCTDR MQNTHLV Are you a Follower or A Leader? By Cherie -, Ph.D. About a year ago I was curious about who was " The Typical American " so I started to gather statistics to create a profile. The information is available; however, it is rarely assembled all together in one place. The data clearly shows that each one of us has a choice: to lead or to follow. To follow means that you relinquish your personal responsibility and buy into the addictive patterns that govern our society today. The cycle of addiction starts with overwhelm. Overwhelm can strike any time you feel or believe that what you must accomplish is just too much for you. When you feel overwhelmed you simultaneously feel that you are not enough to meet the demands that are being placed upon you. When you experience a scarcity of time, energy, money, and resources to be able to live a healthy and fulfilled life you go into " overwhelm. " Since the feeling of overwhelm is so unpleasant we seek some relief from the reality. The relief that Americans so often seek is in the form of activities or substances that eventually become addictive. Many people when faced with " Overwhelm " distract, divert, and detour their attention. Overwhelm drives people to eat, drink, take drugs, gamble, eat anything sweet, take caffeine, go shopping, watch television, and escape by living their lives vicariously through others. If you want to learn more about yourself take this short quiz: Give yourself 5 points for every " Yes " answer. The higher the score, the more - : " typical " you are and the more you follow. The lower the score, the more a-typical or individualist you are, and the more you question. 1. Do you eat fast food at least 2X per week? Yes No 2. Do you watch 7 hours (+) of TV per day? Yes No 3.
