Guest guest
If you prove to be like me and are considered a hard stick or the IV's keep failing like mine, NIH has a special place with special people and ultrasound equipment, lidocaine, etc. It looks kind of like an ER, but it's called VAD, not sure what that stands for; something like vascular something...but I was a regular there, and they even came to my room the saturday, when closed. They called the on call vad guy and he came in my room and fixed me up for the final serial draws. There's an old mcdonalds commercial where a little kid says " hope is good! " that we mimic a lot at our house and when they saved me from many " tries " , I called home and said " VAD is good! " . However, next round, I will arrange a PIC line, or jugular line, period. Was advised to do so by the VAD people themselves. So never fear! VAD is there! And if you start down the road I did, don't wait so long to ask for a pic or the VAD people's advice on managing it better. You have to advocate for yourself, that's all. I don't think you'll have a problem with that! > > > > May you have a safe journey to NIH and return feeling like a pin > cushion but with answers. > > >
