Guest guest
My 3 yr old son has a parasite called Blastocystis Hominis. We''ve treated it with Flagyl as well have tried other things and to no avail. Our third Great Smokies test shows it is still there. Has anyone had this and successfully eradicated it? If so, how? Lori ********** My son recently had it. I have been using Dr. s parasite treatment. www..net Don't know if it worked, but seems so. I haven't done retest. but the parasite may not be the main problem. It is sybiotic with Candida, and most have to treat Candida to get rid of the parasite. We did the Candida diet along with the parasite treatment. Avoid sweets, refined carbohydrates, grains, milk products, hydrogenated fats, fruit and fruit juices, etc. Eat fish, chicken, vegetables, vege juice, Granny apples, see her site. I don't know how this matches your son's diet but it may be necessary. We are using rice milk. Don't really know how good that is. We seem to be doing ok with it. I read that Flagyl isn't very effective against Blastocystis, which just goes dormant until Flagyl is gone, then comes out again when conditions are right. Guest guest
Hi Elvira Sam has (had?) BH too (CDSA from GSDL). We used Flagyll for 10 days and saw some improvements in receptive language and eye contact, we have maintained these gains. However, I can't see that a ten day course of AB's kills parasites with a life cycle of 3 months. Another e friend (child of 3 yrs) used Black Walnut Oil 15 drops three times daily for 2 months and followed that with I think another couple of months on Wormwood oil. Each one hits the BH at differnet stages of development. I was about to go this route and have the stuff in the cupboard, BEFORE trying chelation. Decided that I'd already wasted 2 years since I found out about it and went for the chelation instead. The CDSA after the Flagyll (4 months after) said 'some BH' rather than the 'many BH' we had before we did the antibiotics. Guest guest
My son had this. we treated it with Paragon. There is an adult and child version. If your child does not swallow pills even the child version is gross. We did 15 days on 5 days off and 15 on again and it worked. You can get it at the Health Food store. My DAN recommended it. Guest guest
My son had this, and his doctor treated it with Dioxychlor, (American Biologicals)a homeopathic bleach, and high dose vitamin C. You need to consult with a doctor before using this to get the right dosage for your child's body weight. This is serious medicine-you need the vitamin C because it can oxidize good cells as well as bad ones if you give too high a dose, or don't use enough anti-oxidants with it. It worked great though:) [ ] blastocystis hominis Hi, We have had my son's stool test (complete digestive analysis). In the bacteriology, parasitology, mycology section everything was fine, except that 3+ level of blastocystis hominis was found. I looked and found loads of info on it, even in relation to autism, but still wondering if any of you had this problem and treated successfully with anything else than mainstream meds such as flagyl. Or if you have any info that is not too hard to pass to me... Thanks, Elvira
Guest guest
We used Artemesia for 3 months following Flagyll to wipe this one out. My son had had lots of it for at least a couple years before this time. Terri 12 AM 5/6/2002 -0400, you wrote: >Hi Elvira >Sam has (had?) BH too (CDSA from GSDL). Guest guest
, Please let me know what prescription you are using. Also how long has it been since your last dose of the prescription drug? Some say to wait a few weeks to test the stool again to see if the Blastocystis grew back or if it truly gone. Did you notice the stimming go down during or after treatment? I have not decided what I am going to use yet. Thanks, Beth > > My 2 year old has this. We had a prescription for it for a week and are retesting 2morrow. We noticed more stimming ( old stimm came back after many months) which led our doctor to have us test for parasites. Guest guest
Hi Beth, I only know what I have read and they say that treatment for this parasite is controversial, meaning some think it has some value while others think it is problematic. Probably not helpful, sorry. Guest guest
Has anyone successfully eradicated Blastocystis hominis (a protozoal parasite)by MMS as evidenced by a pre and post stool test? If so, would you please share: A. How you did it? (dose, how long) B. Did you see any neurological (cognitive/emotional/behavioral) improvements after eradicating it? Thank you very much for sharing! We have been trying to get rid of it in my child with autism for years, and I think it is a big part of my son's underlying issues. Considering MMS for this.... Guest guest
, Isn't paramomycin called Humatin as the brnad name? My son was on that years ago, like art age 3, and it was very very good for him behaviorally and in firming up the bm's. At that time he was on it for a differnt parasite called Dientamoeba fragilis. Please will you report to us whether it worked or not in eradicating your son's blastocystis hominis? Thank you, Beth > > > > My 2 year old has this. Guest guest
, I have read all that, but the tide is turning in favor of treating it now, even look at Pubmed and more conservative sites and you will see there is good evidence now to treat it. It can deplete sIGA,create a hostile environment that attracts other pahtogens, create leaky gut, and get this: eat beneficial bacteria. Now I know where all my probiotics are going - to feed this beast. I think it may cause neurological issues in our kids, but hat is just my pet theory. Time for them to move out. But i need a SWAT team, because the local police aren't cuttin' it. Beth > > > > My 2 year old has this. We had a prescription for it for a week and > are retesting 2morrow. Guest guest
Hi We did, we used origano oil P73, although I'm not sure that they may be back now! (12 months later mind) I put the drops in the middle of his oils so he couldnt taste them (half a spoon fish oil then p73 and then another half spoon fish oil) We also did a few bowel clearouts and kept him more than regular! I think it took about 2-3 months, second count came back as all gone! We were also using yeast aid at the time but I dont think this really did much to kill them! Hope this helps, may be we were just lucky! Guest guest
> We have him on paromomycin I forget the brand name. He last took a dose last Thursday. We plan to retest 2morrow with a followup 2 weeks after that. We did notice a bit less stimming for sure but he also has bacteria issues we are treating with naturals. Garlic, oregano and uva ursi. I have a feeling the sulpher in the garlic does not agree with him %100... lol.. But we will have a better picture in 2 weeks when he is done with the bacteria program ( hopefully ) If he still shows bacteria, try OLE. So far, I have not met a strain of bacteria that could survive OLE. Dana
Guest guest
, Did you know that Blastocystis eats the friendly bacteria that you were putting in? Which is why the levels may have been so low. Some say do not give probiotics until after you have treated adn retested for Blastocyctis to make sure it is gone. Beth
Guest guest
Hi Jane, Interesting. We tried OOO for 5 months and nope it did not take care of it. How long after discontinuing the OOO did you repreat your stool test? Some say wait a month. Beth > > Hi > > We did, we used origano oil P73, although I'm not sure that they may > be back now!
