Guest guest
MSM is terrific. I can vouch for what you say. I wouldn't go a day without it. And am hoping to stave off JRT. But what I'm wondering do you sprinkle is on your dogs food or put it in his/her water? And how much to you give? S-Max -- [ ] MSM If MMS stands for miracle mineral supplement, MSM should stand for miracle sulfur material. I took a gram of MSM per day for a number of years and it may have done some good, but it will virally heal you in quantity. It is the only joint supplement that I know of that seems to follow the rule that a little does some good, but a lot does a lot of good. At least in my case, I have never had any adverse affects from taking "huge" quantities, never found a limit, and it has healed some things that were declared beyond hope... like my ACL in my knee that came out of joint with the only slight stress and sciatica. You simply can't take much of the other joint supplements without gastric distress.<SNIP>By the way, it is great for dogs and other animals, too. My 14 yr old golden retriever would be dead by now without it. It also seems to help his coat look better.
Guest guest
My dog is on 3/4 raw hamburger diet and quarter Evo (grain free variety). I make a little pouch for him out of hamburger and fill it up with MSM. He never seems to notice, even if some of it gets on the outside. He gets 1/6 lb in three equal servings or 1/2 lb per day, so the pouch is one serving in the morning. He weighs 80 lb. If his hind legs get droopy when he is overstressed (like today when he got stuck in the snow), he gets a second at noon. What I did not mention is that he also has gotten colloidal minerals in his water with a tad of Flanagan's MegaHydrate all of his life. I started him on MSM when he was 8 yrs old and could not climb the stairs. 80 lb of dog is just too much to carry up the stairs. Now he has occasional qualms about it after too many trips, but always manages them. It was my research for his condition on the web that got me to stumble on the idea of high quantities of MSM. It kept me from joint replacement and him alive... so far. sms wrote: MSM is terrific. I can vouch for what you say. I wouldn't go a day without it. And am hoping to stave off JRT. Guest guest
Same here. I tried putting little doses in her tiny raw meatballs but she won't eat them with the MSM. The only thing I found so far I can hide MSM in where she will eat it is Gerber's Baby Food Turkey and Ham. Go figure! I started on high dose MSM, G/C, CMO, Biotin, Silica about two months ago, and am already reaping the benefits. I'm so glad I did, as I was headed for JRT too. Congratulations! MSM makes connective tissue more supple and, at the same time, as I have discovered, will grow it back when it is torn. Hard arteries, as we have been told for years, cause high blood pressure... so lower blood pressure is a side effect of taking MSM. We know that heart attacks often begin with small tears in the circulatory system and we know that strokes are caused by fissures in it. The evidence is, then, that it will help protect you from both stroke and heart attack... nice side effect, huh? Also, MSM works very quickly, unlike most supplements. For example, I shoveled snow out of my drive today and overstressed my back (I am 67). I took a heaping tablespoonful of MSM and I am back in business. After about two hours... NOTHING! Not even a tinge! Ten years ago, that would have signaled a visit to the Chiropractor and a week or so of pain. When you take MSM, take a heaping tablespoonful with a little water, swish it around in your mouth for a few minutes, then chase it down with a full glass of water. It tastes a little bitter... and cold, but its not too bad and certainly a lot better than what you would endure without it. Much of it is dissolved and absorbed in the mouth. I learned this trick from a distributor of MSM who sells it by the ton for horses on the web. By the way, it is great for dogs and other animals, too. Guest guest
This just proves that everyone is different. I cannot take MSM at all and neither can my son. We developed the very symptoms MSM is supposed to help. Our knees hurt so badly we could hardly walk and it felt like they had fever in them...actually all my joints hurt. It also made me feel very nauseous. I started taking it very slowly...I tried the crystals and the capsules. I had such high hopes for it because I have issues that would have been helped...I was very disappointed. I know MSM helps many people, I am just not one of them. I only mention this to show that not everyone can take it and for those starting out they should take it slow until you know how it will effect you. You said you started slowly... can you elaborate on the process? What amount did you start with? How long did you take it before increasing the level? How long did you take it in total? Guest guest
Hello Simon... It's been awhile but if my memory serves me correctly I only took half the dose recommended with the crystals. Believe me I tried sticking it out but as far as I know you are not supposed to feel more pain...from what I read you should feel less....that is the purpose for taking MSM....relieving arthritis pain. My son was only 27 at the time he took it and he does not even have arthritis yet he had knee pain and headaches. I guess you could say his headaches were from something else but they stopped once he stopped taking the MSM. I am not dissing the product...I just do not believe everything works the same for everyone. I'd like to hear if others have had problems too. Sandy > > This just proves that everyone is different. Guest guest
MSM (methylsulfonylmethane)is also a detoxificant. It can bring toxins out of cells into the blood stream causing a toxin overload or healing crisis, i.e. headache and/or aching joints. It can cause bronchitis type symptoms as it cleans out the lungs, one of the first areas of the body that starts to clear. It's also good for killing parasites. MSM needs to be as pure a possible as it easily absorbs contaminents. I use Rich's (made for human consumption). Good stuff...it cleared out a lot of brain fog for me one time at high doses but with much discomfort for a while (gigantic headache); but it can also cause sleep disturbance which is the reason I stopped using it. I've cleared a lot of toxins since then, which resulted in sleep being much improved. Probably need to give it another shot since it does very good things for a body.... Guest guest
I for one completely agree and was thinking the exact same thing. It's very easy for someone to think whoever is talking about MSM [methylsulfonylmethane] has made a typo and placed the in the wrong place instead of writing MMS correctly. I'll admit methylsulfonylmethane is a mouthful but we do need to distinguish the difference with MMS....a mistake in the two could be dangerous. I think it would be wise if everyone who is talking about MSM refer to it by another name. This is an MMS site and that is what most people think we are talking about.
