Guest guest
I spoke with one of the surgeons and he said that the stomach is still innervated and continues to perform peristalsis - still growls, some patients feel hunger. Hope that answers your question! Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile Peristalsis Hello Group! I have a question for the group that I received from a lady who teaches nursing students. If anyone has a minute to get back to me today, I'd really appreciate any input. My thoughts are that peristalsis isn't interupted as it is stmulated by food intake and regulated mostly by the enteric nervous system. Here is her question: " We were discussing gastric bypass surgery and a student asked " Doesn't the stomach still growl due to peristalsis? " This got me thinking more clinically about the adaptations the stomach goes through after this surgery. Are there changes in the nerve function that slow peristalsis over time? " Thanks for your input!
Guest guest
There are three substances which will move the bowels with ease: 1. Baking soda (1/2 - 1 tsp.) 2. Chlorella (500 mg +) 3. Magnesium (500 mg +) High levels of Vitamin C will also work but they cause unwanted gas, so I don't recommend it. These work well with my wife, who has the same problem. A total bowel detox is in order; you can order a kit from www.blessedherbs.com. from Israel > > > Does anyone know of anything that will generate peristalsis? Guest guest
Try making kefir and taking it every day. I found it brilliant for constipation. You need to buy the grains and make your own. The shop bought doesn't work. The grains aren't expensive and once you've bought them it only costs the price of the milk so is incredibly cheap The general rule is to only ferment for 12 hours to help constipation. It might sound complicated but it is really easy to make. I have been making it for two years and also make it for my elderly Mum and my two sons. Here is some information from the kefirshop.co.uk http://www.thekefirshop.co.uk/infopages/kefir_information.htm I bought my grains from them and they do send abroad. I don't know where you live but I'm sure there will be sources in your country if you do a search [ ] peristalsis > > Does anyone know of anything that will generate peristalsis? Guest guest
Daily supplements of calcium magnesium have always worked for me. The only time it didnt woirk was after surgery when they gave me oxycodone and morphine for pain. That stuff stopped my intestinal activity completely. Would there be any substance she is taking that could cause this peristalsis? Have the doctors perscribed any drug that could be affecting her? Guest guest
No, basically her colon has been destroyed by long term parasites, candida, heavy metals and mercury. Plus she is in weakened condition due to many years of illness. She has to strain to go to the bathroom, which she has no energy for.>> > Does anyone know of anything that will generate peristalsis? Guest guest
The most healing substance I know of is colostrum . I buy it in bulk from Donna Crow at excellentthings.com It might heal the dammage.Ive heard of it helping with colitis and other intestinal problems. I gave it to my dad after colon cancer surgery and he recovered very quickly. I assume you have done a parasite clense and are giving her a good probiotic to replace the missing probiotics in her intestines. Is she on any antibiotics? So... whats your point? Dr Sculzes formula #1 isn't a fiber product. It contains herbs that will cause peristalses, even in a DEAD colon. Its use is precisely for people like her. If I had a similar problem, I would add in my own simple 'charcoal slurry', which is just a 1-1 mixture of clay and charcoal. This is the simplest and most powerful colon detox therapy I know of. 1: use Dr Schulzes formula #1 to get the bowels moving. Start with 1 capsule of the formula at bedtime. If you don't have a pronounced increase in bowel movement the next day, increase by 1 capsule that night. Increase each night until you have a PRONOUNCED increase in bowel movement. This is now your nightly dose. 2. once you have found your nightly dose for formula #1, begin taking on 8oz glass of the charcoal slurry, three times per day on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before a meal, and at least 3 hours after a meal). Do NOT start taking the slurry until your bowels have started moving per step 1, and do NOT take the charcoal slurry with food. For the slurry, start with 3 tsp (teaspoons) each of PRE-HYDRATED bentonite clay (pre-hydrated is very important) and 3 tsp of activated charcoal. Increase by 1 tsp of each every 3 days, until the slurry becomes a bit thicker than water - this is the max dose of the charcoal slurry. Always be aware of possible constipation... if you notice your bowel movements decreasing, add 1 capsule of the formula #1 that night, and continue increasing until your bowel movements are back to where they were. This is your new nightly dose. 3. after 30 days of the max dose of the charcoal slurry, start reducing your nightly dose of the formula #1 by 1 capsule every 3 days. Do this until your bowel movements slow down, then increase back by one capsule for 1 week, then try reducing the formula #1 again. Continue until you have either eliminated formula #1, or have reached an impasse. If you are unable to completely eliminate formula #1, then it is possible you might have to continue taking it long term - but it is better than any of the alternatives (colostomy, misery, death, etc). Guest guest
There are many herbs which are very prune-like in their effects. Caution needs to be used because it becomes a problem if used for any length of time. In addition to evacuation, you also need to build up the action again and actual physical work could help. A physical massage specialist who does manual manipulation --- where they can actually lift the internal organs could be a good idea here. Also, acupuncture which would help the energy channels. (For herbs: I like Gayelord Hauser's Swiss Kris --- the herbs themselves --- I would chew a half teaspoon of the herbal mixture before bedtime. This is recommended when doing a cleanse to ensure evacuation as some people do not evacuate during a cleanse and this is very important. Also, psyllium, which is known as the " intestinal broom " .) - Marilyn - At 10:00 AM 5/15/2009 -0700, beanzie@... wrote: >No, basically her colon has been destroyed by long term parasites, candida, heavy metals and mercury. Plus she is in weakened condition due to many years of illness. She has to strain to go to the bathroom, which she has no energy for. > > > >From: Wilkins <montemomma2002@...> >Subject: Re: [ ] Re: peristalsis > >Received: Friday, May 15, 2009, 3:17 PM > >

If her colon is simply not working, then taking herbs that cause it to work is better than not taking them. Obviously, it would be best if she could wake her colon up and make it start working, but until then, the herbs are the next best thing. Guest guest
In regard to peristalsis; Cascara sagrada can be purchased in capsule form. It is called an anthraquinone that " stimulates peristalsis by affecting the nerves in that region " (An Elder's Herbal by Hoffman) " Best used in conjunction with carminatives " so to ease any possible griping. Examples of carminatives are:fennel, ginger, caraway, peppermint, chammomile and lavender. I personally have used Cascara Sagrada on occasion. For what ever reason when on a trip my bowels get a little hung up. I take two capsules and usually have success in the morning. I have suggested this because I see that you are concerned about the peristaltic part of the process. Peace, Peanut
