Guest guest
Jan, the enclosed monographs seem to contradict your insert. If your insert can be verified as correct, it could provide an alternative to minocycline for people susceptable to yeast infections. Please let us know what you find out. ---------------------------------- <<In acute intestinal amebiasis, the tetracyclines may be a useful adjunct to amebicides --------------------------------- Precautions: General Tablets and Capsules: As with other antibiotic preparations, use of this drug may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi. Guest guest
Kim - I have them constantly (yeast inf) I have had this problem no-stop since probably 3 years into my implants.... the had a lot of yeast inside of them along with all the mold/baceria etc. this cause numerous infections - ear, sinus, chest, etc., which I was prescribed antibiotics which made matter worse - it was a vicious cycle. no matter what I always got them - I started using a ton of raw garlic and Coconut oil and taking acidophillus (sp?) and this seems to help. Try to avoid all sugars - even natural as the yeast feeds off of it. love shari
Guest guest
I have heard this does work although I admit I haven't tried it.... A little of a baby here for that one although I have heard it works! Heard of the garlic suppositories many times. also -some girls a while back in the group discussed I believe some kind of acid they received from the health food store (boric??) and put into veggie suppositories and used them.... I will have to go through the archives to find the exact potion that supposedly worked very well for chronic vaginal infections.... Let me see if I can find it and I will re-post.... girls - do not try anything related to this until I can find the old posts with exact directions per doc instructions as it could be dangerous.... please let me get the exact info first.... FYI - i never tried this one either - I just remember it from a long time ago when some of the girls were having the "yeast" instructions. Also- I just went to my ob/gyn recently for this issue again and received yet another rx for diflucan and some cream... we will see if it work this time as it never has before.... my chronic sinus issues (2 operations since 11/03) with antibiotics has started the nasty cycle - I refused steroids on my last sinus visit as this also add to the yeast issue... I have been sticking to the garlic and Black walnut tincture to try to fight the sinus issues... I have not been using antibiotics anymore as I think I am probably immune to them anyways now due to these chronic infections.... hopefully it will stop eventually w/ natural options. love shari
Guest guest
Kim, I've heard that works too! . . . I think some of the other ladies have some other remedies too. Often times, symptoms get temporarily worse when we start trying to kill off Candida organisms. The die-off creates toxins that the body must flush. My guess is that the irritation is coming from those toxins. I normally wouldn't recommend a douche - at least not on a regular basis. But if it's very bothersome, you could try that. Guest guest
I have a stranger one for you, putting slices into a large garlic clove and inserting it vaginally at night and removing it in the morning. It does help! Since you are seeing your doctor on Friday I wouldn’t use anything at all because it could mess up your doctor’s test results. It may not be yeast at all. A change in vaginal ph can cause a bacterial infection instead of yeast. I fought ph balance when I used to do water aerobics. Kenda Hi! Does anyone get recurrent yeast infections? I have hardly had any, but since changing my diet, trying to avoid sugar, primal defense ect.. I am getting irritated, (if you know what I mean!) yeast infections. Could all of this change be affecting this? Does anyone have any good remedies? I can't get in to see my doctor until Friday. I read a weird remedy of putting plain yogurt with active cultures on a tampon! (That is Weird) But maybe it works? I'd appreciate any info. Guest guest
Hi Rogene, No douching if Kim is going to see the doctor on Friday, that will wipe away any bacteria or yeast and the doc won’t know what she had. If I remember correctly, my doc has a rule of no douching a week prior to a visit. Kenda Kim, I've heard that works too! . . . I think some of the other ladies have some other remedies too. Guest guest
Hi Shari, What does the coconut oil do for yeast? I have never heard of it being used. One thing, if you want to go the unnatural route and your liver can tolerate it, a 21-day course of Diflucan works wonders for yeast. Follow up with a good probiotic. Guest guest
Oh my gosh!! There is a generic available now and it isn’t very expensive, less than $1.00 per pill. The last time my insurance paid I had to get name brand it was $10.00 per pill! Dr. Leu isn’t covered by my insurance so all of my expenses are out of pocket. If I had to get 21 at $10.00 per pill, I wouldn’t. Kenda My doc gave me 2 diflucans and my insurance tuned it down... only will pay for one per 30 day period.... I hate HMO's!!! I wish I could get the month RX approved - would problably stop my issues completely but i do not have the money to self pay.... love shari Opinions expressed are NOT meant to take the place of advice given by licensed health care professionals. Guest guest
Shari, For people who cannot afford medications, each manufacturer has a plan to provide free medication. You need to get the paperwork (you can download it), and have your doctor sign it. It gives the drug companies the excuse they need to charge U.S. Citizens outrageous prices! Guest guest
I found the note that accompanied the Herbal labs website to be very interesting . . . well worth considering as a guideline for anyone with Candida. " Candida Selecta is a treatment of choice for the treatment of Candida related disorders. This Homeopathic Remedy is processed in the homeopathic tradition and with the philosophy of treating the like with the like. While Candida is present, do not use corticosteroids or oral contraceptives. Avoid cheeses, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, fermented foods, all grains containing gluten such as wheat, oats, rye and barley, ham, honey, nut butters, pickles, raw mushrooms, soy sauce, sprouts, sugars in all forms, vinegar and all yeast products. Eliminate all citrus foods from your diet for one month, then eat them sparingly because fruits are alkaline forming and Candida thrives on them.. Your diet should be fruit free, sugar free, and yeast free. Your diet should be low in carbohydrates, high in vegetables and meat, brown rice, millet and acidophilus. Avoid chemical household products and cleaners, chlorinated water, moth balls, synthetic textiles and damp places such as basements. Guest guest
Diabetics are prone to get yeast infections. I once had a vaginal yeast infection off and on for about five years before I was diagnosed with diabetes. Guest guest
One of my rheumys (that I no longer see because he moved out of state) told me that when you take methrotrexate, you will be more prone to fungal (yeast) infections. I have been on methrotrexate for many years. I get them on and off but I usually get them if I have to take antibiotics > > > > I've been on MTX & prednisone for 5 mos now, & no yeast infections.
