Guest guest
I have several sows and two boars and my pigs are free range or have large yards, supplemented with whatever the garden yields or they can catch. Lost several chickens lately...They do not have the stress gene, that causes all the fatal adrenaline attacks and creats massive muscle that tastes horrible and pigs that fall over when going for a walk. You can ride on any of my pigs, but would recommend a saddle as most of them are well over 600 lbs and larger than most ponies. They are healthy and happy, and the meat is lean compared to what you can buy otc. I have through the years culled the unhappy ones, or in my instance the ones who dont reproduce well or come after me for any reason. My 1000+ lb boars will allow us the do anything we want and have all their teeth intact to protect the babies from dogs. Things can get testy come weaning time but we have never had an incident of anyone getting bitten. Not all pork is bad and I recommend looking for sources that allow you to visit the herd, at least visually, or raise your own. Hard to find ones that use no antibiotics or chemical wormers and that feed untreated feeds but we are out there. Cant buy meat legally but can buy pigs or partial pigs according to the laws. They made those laws to protect us from bad processors and storage facilities. Guess I will have to make up for the bad meat I eat through other healthy means. Kathy in Texas Need a job?
