Guest guest
This video is presented in loving memory of Geetha Angara, the water treatment head chemist mysteriously murdered at the New Jersey water treatment plant in 2005. Dr. Angara was an extremely motivated individual, interested in all areas of water treatment processes. She had recently become active in both AWWA and NJAWWA where she presented her most recent work focusing on both on-line instrumentation and process control of manganese treatment. She was a member of the NJAWWA Research and Technology Committee and had obtained her T-2 Water Treatment Plant Operator's License in 2004. She was a demonstrated leader asrecognized by her family, friends and co-workers.. " - Cummings, Superintendent, Passaic Valley Water Commission " There is something special about the work that we do as there is a strong sense of public service and general contribution to society because of the essential needs that water treatment fills. You could sense this is Geetha's approach to her work. The research that she presented was a valuable contribution, both to the plant and to the field in general " - Dr. Budd, Black and Veatch Company " Her laboratory work is characterized by good planning and careful execution. She is a self-starter and needs no prodding……her notebook is written clearly and is always up-to-the-minute. She has grown remarkably as productive researcher, a thoughtful scholar and a dedicated teacher. What I find most heartening about my association with Mrs. Angara is the matter of her potential. I can not yet set a limit on it. She has answered every new challenge well. She will continue to do so for a long time to come. Professor McNelis, New York University She loved research work (professional) and always looked to publishing her research work. Highly motivated and enjoyed intellectual work. She was enthralled when her employer switched the Water Quality method to Ozone. She enjoyed her work and was very conscious and knowledgeable of the State and Federal EPA regulations and standards regarding drinking water quality. She was one of the technical scientists at PVWC who cared most to stay complied with the EPA standards and its interpretations of safe drinking water quality requirements. Stayed late hours and even went to work on some weekends to catch up her research activities and additional projects. In fact, one of the Senior Managers (Ms. Cummings) at PVWC commented on February 9, 05 (after the day of her death) that " We were only using 2% of Geetha's brain.. " . Another top Manager (Chief of operations-Mr. ph Bella) commented, " She (Geetha) was our star scientist http://nanotransformation.com/water-and-water-treatment/its-in-the-water-stupid.\ html
