Guest guest Posted November 12, 2009 Report Share Posted November 12, 2009 HCl may not suit as activator, as it brings pH to 1-2 (Very High acidity)where as citric acid is a good buffer to maintain pH at 3-6 which is ideal to produce and maintain ClO2 at 1-3 ppm level. With HCl ClO2 concentration may go beyond the acceptable limits, causing some of the discomforts more violently. HCl may be OK for other disinfecting purposes. > > Thanks.
