Guest guest
Hey !! First off, I am so glad to hear Lily is doing well with her back!! That is awesome news :-) Secondly, am so so sorry to hear how sick she was. It is never fun traveling with a sick child especially on a plane!! Been there done that. I hope she is beginning to feel better and is over the bug for good. Also CONGRATS on the pregnancy. Hopefully, you stay well too and no more bugs during your pregnancy. Take care Tracey & Lexi Update on Lily Hey everyone, Sorry I have been MIA for so long. I have had a lot going on lately. Just wanted to update everyone on Lily. She went for her 5th cast on Oct 5th in SLC. She is now 0 degrees in cast with no rotation!!! We are so excited!!! Her hips are even starting to show improvement which is great news! She still sleeps in a brace at night for naps for her hips but it is showing to be sucessful. I talked the doctors into one more cast after this just to be conservative and they respected my concerns. I figure it is not summer yet and if I can keep her in her cast until she turns three I will feel more at ease with the whole situation and then get her into a brace by summer time. Our trip was the best trip to SLC we have had in a long time. Lily did great in the hospital the whole time and was in good spirits the whole week. The bad part came on the trip home. About 30 min before boarding our flight home Lily got sick all over the airport. She was throwing up none stop. I amost took a flight out the next day but just decided to suffer on the plane instead of the airport waiting for someone to come pick me up which would have been a few hours. I am glad I made that decision although felt bad for all the other passengers at the same time. Lily threw up the whole two hour flight. It was horrible! To make a long story short, she spent the night in the ER severly dehydrated, I caught the bug the next day and am also 4 months pregnant. I spent the next night in the hospital severly dehydrated and then to follow up my son and husband both followed suit with out having to go into the hospital. It was the worst flu virus I have ever had or seen. Lily is still the last one to get over it. Poor little girl. Well, I hope everyone is well. I plan to catch up on posts this week as I have not read any for about 3 week now. Hansen Lily Hansen(4-12-04)
Guest guest
Wow! What terrific news regarding her spine AND hips! Yay Lily! You can't get much better than that. Sorry to hear about the flu virus. That sounds just dreadful especially to have to travel like that. I also got a similar stomach virus when I was around 4 months pregnant with Ian and it was just awful so I can sympathize! Congrats on the pregnancy as well!! Guest guest
Hello I have not posted in awhile and the last time I did I sort of went off the deep end, I am very sorry about that and there is no excuse but I at least want to explain our news. Lily was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in Nov., the week of Thanksgiving to be exact, we spent in the hospital. I suspected she had diabetes because of some inexplicable symptoms she was showing. I hoped very much she didn't have it, but she does. I am not going to go into a big explanation of type 1 d, but I think most people are somewhat familiar with diabetes. The thing about type 1, it happens so fast, within days it happens to a child and there is nothing you can do. It was for me, like a pie in the face. As a mom, I have tried so hard to take the best care of her, so careful about her nutrition and her activities and loving her so very much. And also worrying so many time over bpes, which, as difficult as it is, does not endanger your health the way type 1 D can. Lily is making all of this okay for her mom and dad, because she is just so amazing and brave and resilient. And she is still the same little girl she was before, and that helps me so much. She is adjusting to the injections and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. It's hard for me to understand why my daughter would be presented with two challenges so early in her life, but I am doing better to accept it each day. Lily is now wearing glasses to help her strengthen her right eye and not rely so much on her left, she looks cute in them and doesn't mind them at all.
