Guest guest
Hi Thanks for your message. Mr Collin said he was hoping for a better result on the canthoplasty and that she could have it repeated when she is older. He did a Y-V with no wiring. Her scars are really neat and we are satisfied with the result. I am curious to know how tall Naomi is. I have been concerned that Kirsten may not be tall enough to use fascia from her thigh, but forgot to ask Mr Collin at our last appointment. I must write things down! Kirsten is 110cm (3ft 3 1/2) and weighs 14.3kgs. So will Naomi have the lid lift done first and will she have a canthoplasty done? Take care Parsons > > > > Hi all > > > > I've just added a recent photo of Kirsten to her album, Kirsten > > Parsons. Guest guest
Hi , Naomi is really tiny for her age. At 4 years and 3 months, she stands at 92 cm and weighs 13.4 kg. At our last visit (Jan) the doctor measured her leg from the knee to the top of her thigh. (Sorry I can't be more technical about this. I'll ask Ern to reply to you if you like). In any case, the doctor said that her leg is long enough to yield about 10 cm. They need about 10 -15 cm. Being in no rush to have the ptosis repair as the tapes are still doing their job and Naomi has no problems with them, we will wait till we can get more fascia...just in case : p Both Mr and our doctor here have the opinion that Naomi should just have the ptosis repair and that the canthoplasty should deferred until she is 'grown up'. They appear to think that it is not medically necessary for her (for now?) and it's a purely cosmetic procedure for her. Mr even went on to say that because she is of Asian descent it is 'more acceptable' for her eyes to look smaller, and we have to consider the potential of bad scarring (in our case?). Now that she's wearing those glasses for long sightedness, they do magnify her eyes to appear larger, ha!ha! So I guess, for us, the ptosis repair is the only surgical procedure we are looking at in the near future. When she's older, she can decide for herself. Ern and I are thinking of middle of next year for her ptosis repair. Take care now, hugs to Kirsten! > > > > > > Hi all > > > > > > I've just added a recent photo of Kirsten to her album, Kirsten > > > Parsons. Guest guest
Hi Thanks so much for your reply. I made a typing mistake with Kirsten's height, she is 101cm (not 110cm) at 4 yrs and 7 months. So about 9cm taller than Naomi. If Naomi was considered to be just tall enough for surgery, then I can relax. If Ern knows what minimum length your surgeon likes the thigh to be in order to harvest enough fascia, I would really appreciate if he could pass that info on to me. If Naomi can wait for the canthoplasty till she is older, I'm sure she will get the best result possible. She is gorgeous anyway!
