Guest guest
Hi everyone Well, we had our appt. today and the surgeon wants to operate on Dominic in January (next month). Abit of a shock for us, as we expected it when he was about 4, but the doctor says his ptosis is so severe that Dom cannot see properly. Because he is still so young, 15 months, they cannot use his fascia from his leg; instead they will be using a synthetic alternative. Obviously I have read up (thanks Shireen!) on the operation and the surgeon took me through it today, but if anyone has any personal info; i.e. how their childs Frontalis Sling operation went, I would be so glad to hear it. Something that is also concerning me; I have obviously fallen in love with Dom as is, and wonder how different he is going to look; I will have to get used to the change I think! On the bright side; they are not concerned with the epicanthal side and they do not think he will ever need canthapasty as his eye opening are of good side; so Yeah for Dom. We have been told that this surgery is for function, although the cosmetic side will improve; he may need a further lifting surgery when he is older for purely cosmetic reasons; has anyone else been told this? Thanks again. Cretemum.
