Guest guest
Hi Welcome to the group. One of the best things about this site is that people can share experiences. However, it is very important to recognise that we are all different, and treatment options for each person is likely to vary. As many people here will tell you, in some cases they were recommended to act immediately (because vision may become impaired, or another reason) and for others, delaying caused NO adverse affects, and that the surgeon suggested that in that case it was up to the family to choose when to have treatment (pros and cons having been explained to them). The best person to advise you is your health team, especially your specialist. If you are seeking more advice, then you will spend your time best by looking for another specialist and asking their opinion. Also - it is interesting to know that opinions have changed recently - the specialists are revising their thoughts and policies. So, even the personal experience of somebody who had surgery a few years ago might sound relevant, it probably isn't, partly because (a) their exact circumstances may not be they same as your daughter, and ( opinions and treatment options have been revised in the past few years. Please don't think of them as a substitute for advice, or an alternative point of view. I hope that this helps. She will be one month from turning three. Her 2nd op. is scheduled for approx. one year later when she turns four. We are interested to know wether it is better to wait until a child is older to operate and wether that would mean a better result or perhaps it depends on the individual case...?? We are just going on the advice of our specialist, but would appreciate to hear some other's views/opinions....
