Guest guest
Hi Kae, I have Decorative & Tole painted for 20 years now. I , most definitely will do some painting on my soaps this year. Painting can be on any medium. Painting on your bars sound like an excellent idea and depending on where you put your lights and darks will give the soap more depth & dimension. You go for it!!! I want to see pictures!!!! Deb Has Anyone? Oooo....did I get your attention? What I am wondering is this. Has anyone ever painted on their CP soaps? I know that Colleen has painted on M & P. The reason I ask is this....I recently was involved in a swap. I had so much fun. I even made up a little bar of ie guest soap. (even made my own MOLD!! of a ie in a Santa hat) I had no idea that my fragrance oil would mess up the color of the M & P....the soaps morphed and morphed until they looked VERRY much like....ummmmm.....*antiques*? hehehehe Soooooooo....I guess I shoulda made the soaps just plain white, then painted them the color I wanted the Santa hat AND the ie. Live and learn! Anyway, I recently tried my wee mold with some CP soap and I was soooooo elated that the soap looked so nice! I used my Almond FO which does not change the color of the soap. I also used oatmeal powder. I could not believe that the details in the mold picked up so well in the bar. So...now I am wondering if perhaps I could paint the bars and make them more colorful? Guest guest
I havnt painted on soap yet but i did happen to buy some special additive stuff that you mix in with rgular paint, that allows you to paint on soap and other waxy oily surfaces such candles and such. I got some at Joanns. nt sure if they still carry it though. Can i ask, what did you make your own molds out of??? > > > > Oooo....did I get your attention? > > What I am wondering is this. When I made the molds, first I designed them from Sculpey clay. Then I used a substance called " Oomoo 30 " from a company called Smooth ON. They are located down in PA, near Philly. Shaye told me about the oomoo! It is actually two compounds that you mix and stir together to make a rubber mold. (silicone?) The website is : www.smooth-on.com It is kind of a cool website, as their products have MANY applications! Guest guest
oh ok so it is like a silicone mold then. I wasn't aware you could use them for soap. Or do you do M & P. i forgot but i think you did say Cp soap. I have some mold maker stuff i got at michaels that you brush onto whatever you want to make a mold out of. Smells like amonia pretty bad but works nice. Made a unicorn one. I think it is either latex or silicone.
Guest guest
I have a daughter with BPES and I also have it. I previously shared with the group that we were in the process of adopting a child and then soon after I found out that I was pregnant. We were very shocked but also very excited. I haven't been interested in finding out during pregnancy whether this child has BPES but was wondering what a CVS test is? Like your husband, I figure we will find out soon enough if she has it too. NC, USA blepharophimosis Has Anyone? Who has a previous child with bpes..... and then got pregant have had gentic testing done ...to see if the child has bpes? or CVS test ? My husband and I are pg again? I was wondering about gentic testing during PG.... Hubby says let it ride out itll be fine? Looking for a deal? Find great prices on flights and hotels with FareChase. Guest guest
Hey . I haven't wrote in awhile. Just wanted to say congratulations on the pregnancy and I'm sure he or she will be beautiful either way if he or she has BPES or not. Do you know what you are having? My daughter is only 6 months old and I already can't wait to have more. I don't know anything about a CVS test, but I did have the AFP test when I was pregnant and it was elevated. It scared me to death when they came back elevated, I thought something was wrong with her, but I wonder now if BPES was the cause of the test being elevated. Did you have this test and was it elevated? Do you have any updates on surgery for your daughter? April Harvey <happyappykd@...> wrote: I have a daughter with BPES and I also have it. Guest guest
Thanks Dawn-Marie for the CVS test information. It sounds similar to what April mentioned with the AFP test. April, I chose not to have the AFP test with my first pregnancy and with this one as well. I had heard before that there can be many elevated results with the AFP test and then after my daughter was born and I found out more about BPES, I determined that I wouldn't have the AFP test with my second little girl (it's a girl!) as well since I figured it would probably be elevated due to the BPES as it is a chromosomal abnormality. But then again who knows, maybe she won't have it and it could have been elevated for another reason. I would drive myself crazy wondering what was wrong if I had the test done and it was elevated. As far as Paige's surgery, we spoke with the surgeon last summer and he suggested beginning with her surgeries at about 4 years old. We have had her vision checked since she was a newborn and everything seems to be ok so we are holding off until her face matures a bit. She will be 4 in December so maybe somtime next spring/summer we will have the first surgery completed. I'm scared about it, even though I have had the same surgery. I just want her to be ok.... I guess I am getting a taste of what my parents went through with my surgery. NC, USA blepharophimosis Has Anyone? Guest guest
Hi all, that's really interesting. I'm also pregnant with our second. Our first son, Bipin, has BPES as does his dad, aunt, uncle and grandfather so I wouldn't be at all surprised if the new baby has it too. This time round my triple screen tests came back elevated (I didn't have the test with Bipin). The scan showed everything normal so we have decided not to have any more tests. And it hadn't ocurred to me till now that since BPES is also a chromosomal abnormality that could have been the cause of the blood test results. I can't find anything on the internet about the triple screen test detecting BPES as well but I suppose since it is so rare (and not serious healthwise) research probably hasn't been done into this. Anyway good luck to you all with your pregnancies, look forward to sharing baby photos in a few months! Tessa > I have a daughter with BPES and I also have it. Guest guest
YEAH I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. IF ABIGAIL HAS SURGERY IT'S YEARS AWAY, BUT JUST THE THOUGHT OF IT SCARES ME TO DEATH, BUT IF IT MEANS IT HELPS HER THAN WE HAVE TO THINK IT'S FOR THEIR OWN GOOD AND WILL MAKE LIFE EASIER FOR THEM IN THE FUTURE. MY MOM SAID SHE HAD SUCH A HARD TIME WITH MY SURGERY SHE DECIDED NOT TO HAVE MY BROTHER AND SISTERS DONE. NOW I THINK SHE REGRETS THAT. I FOR ONE AM SO THANKFUL SHE DID HAVE MY SURGERY DONE, BECAUSE MY SISTER IS 18 AND HAS TO WARE GLASSES AND SHE HAD THE Z PROCEDURE DONE LAST YEAR, BUT INSURANCE WON'T PAY FOR HER TO GET THE SLINGS. I JUST TRY TO THINK ABOUT WHAT ABIGAIL WOULD WANT ME TO DO AND I HAVE ALSO BEEN PRAYING ABOUT IT. WELL KEEP ME INFORMED ON THE NEW BABY AND PAIGE'S SURGERY. WHEN IS THE BABY DUE? GOOD LUCK WITH THE REMAINDER OF YOUR PREGNANCY. APRIL Harvey <happyappykd@...> wrote: Thanks Dawn-Marie for the CVS test information. It sounds similar to what April mentioned with the AFP test. Guest guest
I am also glad my parents chose the surgery for me. My mom said that my eyes seemed even more affected than my daughter's so I had to tilt my head back pretty far to see. I will certainly keep you informed on Paige's surgery since I know I will have tons of questions for all of those who have already gone through the surgeries with their little ones. I have been taking notes! My baby is due in mid-October so not too much longer! blepharophimosis Has Anyone? Guest guest
Hello I have BPES and so does my daughter. I looked into prenatal testing for BPES. From my understanding AFP won't be elevated because of BPES. CVS won't screen BPES, unless you specifically request it, the genetics counselors told me the best way to do this is to have my blood screened for the specific mutation, then when they test a baby, the doctors know exactly which location to look for. The Dr. also told me he has seen enough BPES patients that he felt confident he could diagnose via ultrasound. I think some people in this group said they could tell from their child's ultrasound that they had BPES. I thnk I could recognize it also after having the experience with my first daughter. There is nothing that can be done during pregnancy, but sometimes I think it would be nice to know, just to prepare. Lily turned 3 this week, and it's amazing to see the person that she has become. We are so proud of her. Beth > > I have a daughter with BPES and I also have it. Guest guest
To clarify, an experienced genetic specialist told me he could tell, when he knew to look for it (because one of the parents is affected) I have BPES and it never ocurred to me anyone could tell from an ultrasound, but now that I know what Lily looked like as a newborn, I think it would be possible to tell. The sonographers and doctors measure the eye sockets and nose bridge etc and that also helps verify. I remember a few people in this group said they saw their children's ultrasounds and they could see the trait, but again, they knew they had 50/50 chances of passing it on, and they already had other kids born with it so they had an idea of what it looks like. Do either you or your husband have BPES? Beth > > > I have a daughter with BPES and I also have it. Guest guest
Mine was 4.5 yr old. He had a virus, got a flu shot, and a friend died. Did he have his shots for kindergarten that year? If it sets up an immume response that slowly starts detroying the gut, then over a few months food sensitivities can cause reactions in the brain. That being said, my child also has PTSD and that is from a hoorifically bad medical experience as a toddler. I do think severe emotional stress does not help our kids body/brain chemistry and adrenal glands function properly for them to stay well. Stress is hard, physically on the body. The body chemistry changes. Many people with autoimmune conditions like MS, fibromyalgia, lupus can pinpoint a very stressful event that precipitated there decline in health. The sleep terrors he experienced for the next few years and the subsequent chronic severe sleep deprivation, adrenal fatigue, resulting environmental allergies which were than suppressed with an onslaught of drugs which contained excitoxins (which damage/kill cells in the brain), and then the further onslaught of chronic anitbiotic Rx's (for sinus infections - that is what the doctor attributed his head banging to!), further destroyed the gut and he developed systemic yeast. The flu shot was just the icing on the cake. That amount of mercury, plus the MSG in that started his serious decline over about 5 months he turned into a not sleeping, allergic kid to an autistic kid. > > I see all the information on the shots. Has anyone heard of Asberger's just happening? My son seemed normal until age 5. Laughing, loving, fabulous baby boy. I don't recall him getting any shots and changing, but I do know that his best friend ended up being molested that year ~ that was a big shock for him. He didn't wish to be close to anyone from then on? Has anyone else had this type of expierience? >
