Guest guest
Jess, My daughter (with BPES) and I just visited a occuplastic surgeon and were told that sometimes as people grow older, they may need some fine tuning of previous surgeries due to the unique eye structure of individuals with BPES. Some minor lower lid work was put forth as an option for her at this time as was the possiblility of some work on the epicanthal folds-"z plasty" is what I think the procedure is called. Each year when she sees her eye doctor, we ask him to check her lid position and so far hers have held constant. I was told when she had her first surgeries in 1992, that we needed to monitor this measurement in case additional surgery was needed. I recommend that you read input from other group members who will surely respond to your question and that you consider seeing an occuplastic surgeon for a consultation, if it is possible for you to do so, in case you do indeed need to have additional surgery to protect your vision in your left eye. Take care. jmhelge <jmhelge@...> wrote: I have BPES and had my surgeries when I was 5-6 years old. I am now 22. Guest guest
My 9 1/2 year old son had a 2nd ptossis repair when he was 7. His original ptossis repair was at 8 weeks. As another person has already responded - you should check with your doctor to see if you should have additional surgery given the amount of time that has passed and how much your face has grown from when you had your original surgery. Good luck. elEvergreen Lee397 Freeman Crescent,Oakville, ON Canada L6H 4R4Phone: 905 338-8762Fax: 905 338-1157Cell: 416 526-7581 blepharophimosis From: jmhelge@...Date: Mon, 7 Apr 2008 04:25:59 +0000Subject: blepharophimosis the lazy eye is demanding an encore I have BPES and had my surgeries when I was 5-6 years old.
