Hi Awdrey, My name is and I am 42 years old...I only wore glasses from about the age of 6 to 8 and I also have an 18 year old son with BPES and thankfully he has NEVER needed glasses. Our beautiful son Ethan (wearing pumpkin suit @ group) does also wear glasses. He is 4.5 and only got them about 7 months ago...Since getting them he has never tryed taking them off, he has been a real champ about wearing them! He has had NO surgeries, but at his 4 year old check they found he had an astigmatism, which is very comman in BPES...We must admit though, since wearing them, he hardly gets stared at now, so it has been refreshing for us:) We can go out and not have everyone look at him strangely! That broke our hearts

Although the other day we were at a park and Ethan was talking to 2 girls about 5 years old and they asked him if he was blind, they were asking him to name colours they were wearing, when we walked away, Ethan said to me *mummy, am I blind?*

Well my heart broke, that was the very first time he has EVER said anything that relates to his eyes! It is sad that it is others that remind

Im 39 with BPES and have never worn glasses either do my 2 boys who also have BPES one is 17 and the other 9.My daughter who is 19 and does not have BPES is the only one in our family of 6 that wears glasses.
