I just started Enbrel last week. How long have you been on it? and do you find it effective? I'm down to 3 methotrexate pills and on 10 mg of prednisone. Any side effects for you? I am definitely feeling an improvement - just hoping that it continues!

thanks,

gloria

----- Hi Gloria,

I have been on Enbrel since it came out. I don't remember how many years. Yes, I do notice an improvement. No side effects for me. Well, none that I notice anyway. For a while I was VERY sore. My Dr. was going to try Enbrel IV's. I have never heard of that before though. Has anyone else heard of Enbrel through an IV? I guess maybe it was the weather making me feel so bad. I did improve so I never did get the IV of Enbrel.

Thanks,

Donna

Hi Mere:

I just started Enbrel last week (so far, only 3 shots) and have definitely noticed an improvement right away. I did become symptomatic this morning before my shot - I guess the stuff must wear off. But it's better today.

Another question for enbrel users: how exact are you in administering your shot? the nurse at my doc's office said to leave at least 2 days between shots, but didn't seem to be concerned about whether it was two or three days, and that timing didn't matter. Any comments?

Gloria,

Thank you for responding to my question. I get the impression that it could be only 2 days apart too today when I spoke with the pharmacist. Seems like it would be better to make it three days. I think I will try three at first. The pharmacist used Tues and thurs as expamples, but she just said pick to days and make it those same two days every week. I think it can be 2 or 3 days. I will get more information when the drug arrives and ask about this and let you know.

Mere

Hi Jay, my name is Sherri, and I have been taking the drug for about a year. It had been a Godsend for me!!!!! I don't have any adverse reactions-ie redness or pain at the injection site- or anything. I was on Kinneret prior to that, and it did not work at all. Please feel free to email me privately if you wish. Any other questions? Hope this helps...sherri

Well the VA did it again, what a beaurocracy!! I was sent to the wrong place, to see a surgeon, when I was supposed to be at the surgical department which is where they give Remicade infusions. one and a half hours after my appt. I finally talked with one of the doctors who give the infusions. The medicine has to be ordered two days prior to the appt. so there was no way I could get mine.To top it off before Remicade is prescribed rules require that a RA patient be prescribed Enbrel first for at least 90 days. Must be less expensive!I do prefer trying Enbrel since I won't have to drive 120 miles for the infusion. So, the Enbrel has been ordered, 90 days worth. When It arrives I will see my Doc and get started, hopefully within the next 10 to 14 days. Now I'm perusing any and all information I can find on Enbrel. I would appreciate any information from any one taking this drug. Thanks and God Bless,Jay
