To all the mothers of babies with BPES, I say ; don't worry too much.

I was like you twelve years ago, crying, worrying about the future of my little boy.

Now he's twelve years old, he is beautiful, extremely clever, cool and happy.

He has a lot of friends, is very popular in his school, even if he doesn't like to be called " The Chinese' .

I really don't think that he is unhappy because his special face.

He was shy when he was little, but with years he learned to trust himself, and to use his sense of humour and his kindness to be loved.

Little eyes are much more obvious in babies, when the child grows up and wears glasses, iI think that is not so shocking.

There is only one secret to make your child happy and confident ; love !

Say to your child that he is special, but beautiful.

A few years of patience, and you will only think to this problem from time to time....

All my wishes for a happy life to all little BPES !

Great message. My family who are of hispanic decent,

refer to our daughter as the " Chinita " - it is a term

of endearment and full of love --- just as if she was

lighter toned they would call her " Huera " or darker

" Morena " I hope that my daughter will grow up

embracing her looks (we are all different). Kids can

be mean, I know but hopefully we will raise our

daughter with enough self-confidence that any name

calling will maybe bother her but not crush her.

Very true! I would also like to add that as a parent of an infant with this syndrome, BPES seems to occupy your every thought with concern and worry. By the time your child is a teen (or at least for me), there are so many wonderful, positive aspects to their life, that BPES becomes "almost" insignificant. There have been long spans of time that I actually forgot that this condition even exists in our lives. The many tears I shed 13 years ago were a waste of time and energy, and have since been replaced with pride and joy for the many accomplishments my daughter has achieved. BPES can have happy endings!"S. Park" <playinthepark@...> wrote: Anne; You speak to fathers as well. Thanks for your encouragement. Bless you.
