Guest guest
Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that c-toma returned - and that seems quick! How did you or your doctor find out? Did you just have a routine cat scan? or were you having problems? This is my greatest fear ... that it will return and I won't find out until it does a lot of damage. Had the c-toma done extensive damage requiring the wall to be removed, or is that something your doctor chose to do based on the recurrence? Best wishes to you, gigbags wrote: My first surgery was in December of 2001 The wall was left intact. My second surgery was July 15 as the cat scan showed someting in the cavity. The Dr thought it was scar tissue. Actually the cholesteatoma had returned. The second surgery required the wall to be taken down and the canal to be widened. It was substantially more uncomfortable than the first surgery. The packing and sutures were removed after two weeks. I will be seeing the Dr after two weeks have passed again. Guest guest
I had a routine Cat Scan after 6 months which showed " someting in the cavity " I or the Dr was not prepared to find out the second surgery would be more extensive as the CHL had returned to some bad spots and there was no hope My first surgery was in December of 2001 The wall was left intact. > My second surgery was July 15 as the cat scan showed someting in the > cavity. Guest guest
Glenda, Glad to hear that you are feeling better. It's so wonderful that your able to reduce some of your medications. The amount your taking in a time sounds right. Just be sure to remember to drink Gatorade and broths. -- Kathy Kathy Goodman klg@... Patient Representative CLOS Office phone 704-871-0031 Cell 704-682-1723 post op report Dana, I am feeling better. I stopped using the cane. My stability is much better. I've been able to get in all but 5 oz. of the fluids. I've tried, but didn't want to make my new tummy stretch. I've been able to drop down from 3 Soma tablets a day to one at night. I have also been able to drop down Ultram to 2 in the morning and 2 at bedtime. I'm still on 2 Trazadone. I tried 1 and I couldn't sleep. So I went back to 2. I have been able to drop my Neurontin from 6 to 4 at bedtime only. My blood pressure was 117/76 on Friday with a weight drop of 2 lbs. Saturday my blood pressure was 128/86, and I'm down to 312 lbs. (weight when I saw you on Thursday was 316, before surgery it was 328. That makes 16 lbs. so far. My energy level is up, and I'm constantly drinking every few minutes. Thanks for all your help, Glenda Sawyer

HERE IS ONE MORE: ELEVEN DAYS POST-OP AND I COOKED SUPPER TONIGHT ALL BY MYSELF. HUBBY DID REACH UP INTO THE CUPBOARD FOR THE DISHES TO SET THE TABLE, BUT ALL THE COOKING WAS DONE BY ME. I MADE DUMPLINGS IN CHICKEN SOUP, HOME MADE APPLESAUCE, AND JELLO. I WAS GRINNING SO BIG!!! MARGE "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.'" Guest guest
Ying had her surgery this morning, and everything went great. She went in just past 7:30, and we were home by 10:30! Her recovery has been amazing. She is already up playing and being her same ole goofy self. It's so amazing to look at her and actually be able to see the whites of her eyes. She looks so good now, even with the bruising and swelling, that I can't wait to see how great she looks in a week. I've post some pictures on our blog http://everything- elizabeth.blogspot.com .
