Guest guest
Cosima We usually recomend against going to your implanting surgeon. They most often don't believe your implants made you ill, are negative about illness being caused by your implants and how you will look after explant, and can't be trusted to do a proper job of explanting. You are better off with someone like Dr. Kolb who has performed many " en bloc " explants and understands implant illness. Hugs, kathy > > I was wondering if any of you here are familiar with Dr. Kolb in > Atlanta.Has anyone here been to her or had explantation surgery done > by her.I've just about decided that I can't wait the 2 1/2-3 months > to see my original plastic surgeon and I don't trust that he would do > a total capsulectomy. Guest guest
First: You can try what I did when my now 10 yo (hfa) was a little guy - I hung a string of Xmas bells on the doors. Despite the fact that my ds is a little genius, he never figured out that the bells let me know he was leaving the house. And even if yours does figure out cause/effect, you at least can hear the bells and know he is leaving. Second: The school cannot just remove an IEP. There has to be a meeting in which you are a member of the team and as such, you have a say in what happens, as does the teacher as well. It is not a decision that is for just one person to make. So I would write a letter outlining this - that this was done without consulting you or the team, it was a decision made by only one person and that you now request PWN (prior written notice) which details to you in writing why this decision was made. Even if he is doing well the first week of school, you need to make a paper trail of what has happened. The teacher may say he has no problem putting him back on an IEP but it does not work that way. Teacher's can't just put an IEP in place or take one away - same with psychologists. It has to be a process and part of a team decision to do these things. RoxannaAutism Happens ( ) Hi Again Hi All,It's been a while since we were able message in and boy have things changed around here! 2 weeks ago, our 2 yr old, Dylan, was diagnosed with Asperger's just like his 7 yr old brother, . We're having a little bit of difficulty seeing that, since he LOVES people--he just doesn't know what to do with them! The developmental pediatrician says AS is an extreme social reaction and the fact he loves people and has no problems walking away from us and striking up a conversation (albeit non-understandable) with a complete stranger is a problem. He's going to start an early HeadStart type program next week to work on social/emotional issues and his aggressive/violent behavior. With him, I'm at my wits end. He doesn't understand when to stop and has figured out ALL of the child locks around the house, so nothing keeps him out of places he shouldn't be. He's disappeared to the park across the street twice--once base security brought him home, the second time he came home to get his brothers because he couldn't get on the swing without help. Nick is blossoming. He's finally able to accept being called Nick instead of . He was removed from his IEP last school year, even though his teacher and I didn't agree with the school psychologist. The principal was supposed to be finding out more about why he was removed, but we never heard anymore. His teacher last year said he did wonderfully and there were very few issues as long as they worked with him and didn't force him to do things they knew he had problems with. There are 2 (including Nick) on the spectrum in his class this year and his new teacher said if there are any problems, he has NO problem putting him back on his IEP. We're 5 days into school and his teacher has had nothing but wonderful things to say about what a delight Nick is. He doesn't do things the "normal" way, but he has his own way of getting from point A to point C and as long as they make it to point C, the teacher is willing to work with Nick's way of doing things. Their dad is currently deployed, but luckily he has internet access in his room so the boys get to webcam with him before school and on his day off. That has helped. Nick didn't take his dad leaving well and his counselor was afraid he was going to have to be committed at least overnight, but once he got his webcam up and going, the "stress" markers dropped significantly and she feels that's the best thing we could have done to help him.
